Missold holiday room

I wonder if anyone can help i have booked a holiday/wedding in cyprus and found out through trip advisor that the family rooms have not partition. I have emailed hotel who confirm our family rooms are just rooms with extra beds huh!
I have told tour op. who have contacted TC and first not knowing thre was problem they then went to another dept and said yes. I was ahead of the game basically and their was a letter due to be sent re: mistake they are not offering this type of room since renovation. Fact they have been offering this room in excesive of 12mths last years brochure states same room spec and also company website.

So where do i stand they say they will get back after long wknd. I have family who have booked to stay there too and the Tour op said they may offer for me to transfer hotels, (but at what cost to me?) but transferal will not be an option for the rest of my party as they have no grounds. I would prefer an extra room which they offered a lady on trip advisor she also recieved a refund and compensation although the hotel was having some refurbishments and her room was also meant to have a pool so hers is a little different.
Can anyone advise of what to say and do if the outcome is not what i would wish for next week.

thanks in advance

Did you book together or separate bookings?

THey sound like they will put you back in the position you started with had they not made the error. I think the best you can hope for is they move you to a hotel that does offer these room types, might be unlikely to get two rooms.

Is it so bad you cannot put up with it though? Lots of family rooms are like that, and on the plus side you have booked a refurbished hotel...you might get somewhere not so new..

    thanks for your reply.
I have booked as a package for my wedding and holiday and others have booked seperatly.
I knew the hotel was being refurbished and due to be finished in may. I have paid for a luxury hotel but been missold the room not sure i should just put up with the fact that they can say what they like in their brochure tbh!
I want some privacy as i will be on my honeymoon too. This is why i wanted this room type as i have two children and ive been told it is pretty cramed with two extra beds in a standard hotel room and no seperate area as described.
There is a hotel that it is competing with that offer this room type but i decided on this one as its is on the beach etc. but the reason it was between these two hotels was mainly due to room description.

Most family rooms I have stayed in over the years and in various locations are just one big room with extra beds.

Every time with me. If you have more than one room, its called a suite,
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

OP, did the room description specifically say there was a divide, or just say it was a family room? If the latter then that is what you got, a family room is usually the description given to a room with a double bed and either additional beds or a pull out.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

@duchy I wouldnt pressume that it did have partition doors if it had not clearly stated so in the brochure.
I specifially looked for a hotel with privacy as ive stated i will be on my wedding/honeymoon.
The hotel offers a bigger family suite that accomodates 5 persons far too big for us.
It is a family room with a partition door to seperate from a seperate space as brochure and hotel website describes:
'Family rooms with up to 4 beds are designed to suit all family needs and have modern style, offer privacy and comfort for the parents and space for our young guests.Have the same facilities as above plus lounge \ sleeping area with sliding partition doors – extra beds are sofa beds. Prices are based on 2 adults sharing on All Inclusive.
Yet i have been told they only offer a standard room that they put extra beds in.
I have paid extra for this.

I would jst like some helpful advice on were i stand please if anyone can would be appreciated.

you might be surprised how many people would make assumptions then bleat about being 'mis-sold' when their assumptions turned out to be incorrect.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
