Anyone know how long home baked goods will keep for on average?
e.g.
1. caramel squares/millionaires shortbread - I know they won't go stale but will they go off?
2. shortbread/biscuits
3. Fairy cakes (in my experience they go stale after a couple of days, is that right?)
4. Muffins
Any ideas? Am having a baking day (don't know why!) but don't want to make more than we can eat before it goes bad!1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100

Hi can you freeze any of it? I freeze cakes and muffins quite successfully. And cookie dough definitely freezes, so maybe don't bake all your shortbread?

Just updating my sig total spent so far £330.00 and my month ends on the 20th July :j only need to get a couple of lunch box things and milk so should be under budget but looking back at my receipts could have done even better wasted a good £8 or £9 on perpacked sarnies and could really have managed without the 3 bottles of wine but hey ho. Just need to keep focused, starting to slip back into my old ways of convenience junk because I haven't plan ahead
must try harder

Afternoon! Managed a very respectable shop of £19.68 today, including a shed load of cleaning stuff which will last ages and make the house look nicer to boot. Tea tonight is going to be jambalaya so will crack on with that in a bit. Right now I'm busy cleaning the oven door, so might take a while!
At least my hands are nice and soft! Well, I should need to go to the shops again this week, but only for a few items. It hurt a bit more because I had to get petrol too today.
Have a lovely evening, all. Am off to update my sig.

I was expecting a NSD yesterday but DH wanted some beers so another £3.50 to add. He bought a £1 scratch card when in the shop for me but I didn't win anything. He used to buy me a sherbert fountain when he went in the local shop to get beer but I can't have them now as they are not GF so I think he was stuck on what to get for a little treat for me!:rotfl:
I hadn't realised how low I was on nappies until this morning so spent £5 in Mr S on a pack on the way home from work.
DH is still trying to cut down on alcohol due to his eczema flaring up when he drinks beer and I have decided that I am going to withdraw the amount we would normally spend on booze and stick it in a jar. I have told him that if he doesn't spend it we will use it for a weekend away for the 2 of us later in the yearI am giving up too but it won't make that much difference as it takes me a whole weekend to drink one bottle of wine:)
I have been crunching numbers and I need to knock £200 off my grocery spends next month compared with this month:eek: I have 2 meals out and a lunch to cook for 5 to pay for out of my greatly reduced budget as well!
My new budget starts on Friday and I will only have a couple of pound on tea at work to add to the total before then, thank goodness:eek:
Pasta Carbonara for tea using a jar from ald1 with added bacon and a bit of garlic bread.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Tonight was Chilli Con Carne from the SC (recipe in the index
) Used the mince left from Saturday and added extra tomatos and kidney beans to make it go further, though I now have a batch for the freezer which I am trying not to do. Served it with rice, a dollop of sour cream and tortilla chips that were left over from DC3's birthday party. Lots of appreciative noises to be heard.

I really have a shopping problem, I just can't stay out of the shops
I went to MRT tonight to get the Greens creme caramels and Greenes lemon pie fillings for 10p (I got 4 of each) and I spotted all the YS.
£29 later I leave the store with 5 carrier bags full of reduced items. I am giving my purse to my husband tomorrow and asking him not to hand it over until we REALLY need something.£36/£240
