Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
My stupidity knows no bounds, I managed to start today's thread at the bottom of yesterdays!
Dull & drizzly here but it's meant to brighten up later.
No real plans here, just a bit of knitting & crochet & a smidge of housework to add variety, I shall also try to finish the book I'm reading, A pig of cold poison, by Pat Mcintosh an historical murder mystery set in Scotland, it's very good.
Time for another cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow
I'm awake stupidly early3rd day off and it's getting earlier! Not fair. Normally I'd get up and go to shops when it's quiet but they are all shut til 9am.
There appears to be some sunlight coming in through the window <insert confused smiley> it's meant to rain though. I want to mow the lawn but I don't think I'll get the chance.
My friend arrives today to stay :j she gets in at 4pm in the next town so I'll need to go pick her up. She is staying til Friday and coming to work with me for work experience for her degree course, she did the same last year.
OS wise - need to make my trifle for tomorrow, food shopping, big tidy, laundry to put away, set up spare bedroom, make curry to use up dodgy spuds!
Have a good day all

Morning chums well its still drizzling a bit here in Kent but its supposed to dry up later.I have to take back a Hoover I bought for DD as the extention and crevice tool is missing.I'll give sainsbobs their due they have phoned twice to say first they couldn't find it in the warehouse and then again to say just bring it back and we'll replce it with another one.DDs one was falling to bits and couldn't pick up much at all.well with five children and two dogs its hardly suprising really.I had promised her I would treat her to a new one this month so she's got the same one as I have the purple 1900 smart pet one.It really does the business on carpets.
Then I will probably give her a hand to run some stuff up to the tip and help her have a good de-clutter.Her OH has a job to do today which is fix a shower screen that my friend brought down last week(she's just had a new bathroom fitted and like me tries to fine a home for anything that's useful)her glass shower screen will be ideal in my DDs top bathroom, she also brought some shleving down as well that needs to go up.
So its going to be a busy day today .Roast lamb for dinner tonight yumwith my apple crumble for pud.
If the weather brightens up we may take the dogs for a walk in the woods this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a good day
Cheers chums

Morning Guys!
Stopped raining for the moment, but not sure whats going to happen as OH is supposed to be knocking up cement in a mixer today to get the patio done as he only has today and tomorrow to do it:eek::eek::eek: He's put a lot of planning into it and has the mixer etc hired out till Saturday but only has a helper today and tomorrow.
Nurses were in just after 7 this morning and will be back later. Im still on strict bed rest, but I might try to list some items on Ebay if I can muster up the energy. Really want to simplify everything and get rid of all the stuff we don't or ever will use, but try and get some money for it rather than giving it away IYKWIM.
DW has been emptied and we're having a coked breakfast of bacon, eggs, beans, sausages and toast. House pretty tidy too. Dog needs a hairbrush today as he resembles chewy from Starwars atm.
Think we might have a take away later as OH is going to be so tired doing the garden and helping me:o
Anyway, have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all
Loved the pageant yesterday, well done to all involved, looked so well organised and I'm awe struck at how the Queen and Prince Phillip managed to stay standing during the entire thing! They all looked frozen though.
Wet and wild here on the coast, has been all night, lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the rain beating against the window......just maybe not in June. Had to give in a light a fire last night as it was so damp and chilly....but it was free wood so I can justify it.
No particular plans for today, DDs both want lie ins so I shall leave them until they surface for food. A quick swish around the bathrooms and a sweep through downstairs should suffice HW wise. No washing will be done as it will all wait until the weather is better.
Jacket spuds with toppings and salad for tonight, the salad bits need using and there's some part cooked jackets in the freezer to use up. Lunch will be "on toast" probably eggs or beans, nice and easy.
Hoping to go watch our local beacon being lit tonight but it depends on the weather, whilst I'm quite happy with a bit of wind and rain, DH in his wheel chair could do without it.
Hope you all have a lovely day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning :hello:
We live near Wall's so mr tru went to the factory shop for ice cream, got a good deal on feasts and magnumsUnfortunately he bought far too many and I now have bread and rolls going mouldy in the kitchen because there's no room for them in the freezer.
There are 15 bottles of elderflower champagne on my kitchen table. We were given old champagne bottles and bought some corks and wires, so it looks very poshYou never make the exact amount to fit in the bottles and there was about a pint left over, obviously I drank that, lol.
It rained heavily again. The chickens are having a great time looking for worms, there's 12 of them all digging away at the moment.
I need to tie up the broad beans and tomatoes. Miss tru has work today and she's faffing about in the bathroom, as soon as she's done I'm going to get dressed and go and get muddy in the gardenBulletproof0 -
I really enjoyed the pageant too, thought the Queen and prince Philip did amazingly considering their age and they must have be frozen
quiet day for us , my back is causing me some pain, hoping it would have improved overnight but not so far  sat with a hot water bottle .
was going to have a cleaning day today but will have to that on hold till my back improves .
LO chicken for tea will probably do a stirfry as I have lots of veg to use and several packets of stir fry sauce courtesy of appr0ved f00ds lol
the sun is out right now but not sure how long it will last
hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday and hope the weather holds out for those of you having street parties x0 -
Morning all,
Not raining here atm, but as been all night, the garden needs the rain, I would be happier if it only rained at night, I have some planting to do today, my courgette plants need planting out, and my broad beans need staking too.
Yesterday at the boot sale, I bought three allium plants with the most beautiful flowers on, so they need to be dug in.
Also the little girl next door came knocking yesterday, and gave me some tomato plants, which I need to find space for, she also gave me a leaflet that she is doing a small plant sale this morning, toms, cues, pumpkin etc for 25p each, bless her, so I shall pop round at 10.
Dinner tonight will be something involved with chicken, might do the others some wedges.
I am having great fun with my bread maker, OH and dd love the bread, I might make a fruit loaf today.
DD has been offered a summer job :T she actually got asked to apply, its a job she has been after for a while, and fits in around her college etc, also working in this field will help enormously when she comes to apply to uni.
Need to hoover through, and hang the washing, and that will do for today, it is a bank holiday after all
Have fun all xx0 -
Good Morning All
Still pretty miserable here today, went out to the pictures in the end yesterday and watched a film - very enjoyable too.
Today I am off with DD to see Coldplay :j:j very much looking forward to it. OH & DS quite happy to stay at home. Will be getting something cheap to eat before. Must wrap up warm
This morning will do some housework and ironing and try and menu plan for the week.
Watched some of the pageant yesterday, was so glad to see a good turnout despite the weather.
Have a great day all.x0
