Vodafone free upgrade mid-contract?

I contacted Vodafone this week just to ask a question about my price plan.
The response I got from them included an offer to upgrade my price plan (pay the same amount) but get an extra 300min, 250MB data allowance & European data traveller.
I'm halfway though my 12 month contract and apparently my renewal/upgrade date won't change if I accept the new price plan.
Has anyone heard of them doing this? I'm trying to spot the catch as I'm sceptical of companies doing something nice! :rotfl:

Get everything in writing by a e-mail. Don't believe a word they say over a phone.0

Agreed - you will be locked in to a fresh term (under norrmal circumstances).0

I try and communicate with them over email and only ring if I really have to as like you say I like to have proof (even if it is slightly broken English!).
I emailed them last night and asked if my terms & conditions and renewal date would definitely stay the same and the reply this morning said yes, nothing would change.
Still scratching my head at this one!0 -
Providing this was from the network (not a dealer), that's all the proof you need - but do check any subsequent paperwork.0

It could be a newer version of your tariff - if you're not changing the amount that you pay, there's nothing stopping you moving to a newer version of the price plan. You've obviously been fortunate enough to speak to a fairly helpful rep. I've done a similar thing myself, was on 18M 300/ut/500 and moved to 600/ut/500 for no extra.0

Hi emrawkgrrl,
We can change price plans mid contract and not extend the commitment length. We can't downgrade them to a lower cost but we can alter them to suit your needs.
If you would like to discuss your options in more detail and confirm the contract terms, you can contact me personally via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject.
Kind regards,
Heidi

Found the catch!
In moving to the new plan it seems I can't get the free 25MB browsing/10 texts abroad any more and have to pay £3 a day.
Daaaaamn sneaky gits, beware! :doh:0
