Can't get money from Nationwide

At least you still have a Nationwide branch. We're so hacked off by their closure of all 5 branches within an hour's travel of us, in a densely populated region of SE London that we're progressively withdrawing our savings as various bonds and fixes mature.

The last straw was wasting a half day trekking over to a branch on the bus to move funds from a 0.75% in-branch investment to something better, then, a month later, having the whole package of forms returned to us unactioned because of poor in-branch checks.

I too have failed a security question when phoning with a simple in-principle enquiry. And while their internet service is good, and you can get through to an informed and helful advisor if you trick their telephone menus and avoid delays by pretending you are a new customer or interested in a new product, I'd rather have a right 1st time human in a branch, without queuing out the door.

A pity, as having gobbled up all the mutuals locally and closed them, I'm now forced to deal with non-mutuals against my ethical judgement!
