I bought myself a new PAYG mobile yesterday - at a good price from Tmobile - as a 3 year customer who had always supplied my own phone - this was pretty good (especially since the till automatically reduced the price by another £70

My quarm is that I was told that I would get 1Gb of mobile internet useage per month - yet my Tmobile on-line account shows only 250Mb !!

Since I paid for the phone - albeit at a greatly reduced rate - I am free to change companies as I see fit - so why was I restricted to a new (non-fixed) £15.52 account - when previously, I was "fixed" ie No risk of going over my £15.52 per month bill ?

Also - I was talked into taking out "comprehensive" insurance cover for an additional £8 per month - that I have changed my mind over - my home insurance covers that.......

The idea of being "fixed" appeals to me - in case of accidental "button pressing" should increase costs dramatically....

Where was the deal you subscribed to?
perhaps you may have misunderstood what you were agreeing to?

Check your account again, sometimes the extra data is given as "add services" option under 'Your Plan'. Otherwise call up customer service and tell them you should have 1gb data and it's not showing on your account.

According to tmobile on-line account details - I am on Pay Monthly 16 (24 month) @ £15.32 inc VAT
According to the salesman - I am on 750Mb with 50mins talktime - The salesman at Tmobile understood (I hope !!) that, since I very rarely use my mobile for speech - then the 50 mins would be more than adequate - giving me 750Mb for internet....
Plus - is it really worth spendong £8.99 per month on insurance ?
    I don't think so.......

    This question makes no sense.
Surely it is not worth spending on a phone that costs a tenner.
It may be worth spending on a £500 phone - if it covers what your want without numerous get-out clauses and without a huge excess.

IMHO all mobile insurances are very poor value for money for the majority of customers.

As a side note, £15 for 50 minutes doesn't look like a good deal even with 1Gb.
£10 give you 250m+Unltd at giffgaff.
£12=600m+750Gb at talkmobile (6 months contract)
£12.50=500m+1Gb at tesco mobile (12 months)

The phone - is apparently worth some £500+ had it been a SIM FREE purchase....
I was previously on a month by month £15 tarriff with Tmobile on my old SIM FREE phone - why couldn't I carry on - at the same rate on my new phone ?
Since the phone is mine (I paid £190 for it) - that makes it possible to swap suppliers.
And the insurance has no excess which may be worth hanging on to - then ?

Never assume. The price you paid was subsidised to it makes sense that it WILL be locked to T-Mobile, and you'll be locked into a new minimum term under contract, so you will not have the freedom you seek.

According to the salesman - I can unlock the phone to allow use on another network for £20 - but I am happy with Tmobile anyway - so don't see any problems ...

That said, PAYG and SIM-FREE combination makes no sense either.
