a few years back my mum managed to get safestyle down from 12000 for everything to 1500 for everything but she had to threaten them with legal action when they wouldnt give here the free assesment fee cheque that was for £80. she wanted this back as she origionaly asked them for their best price and sent them away whilst she had a think and every few days they rang up with a better offer so she didnt want to deal with such an un ethical company as they would of happily taken th £12000 if it were a little old lady in the house like my gran.0

Halfords will price match, we got a price match on a SAT NAV car System they prefer for the other store to have stock available but if its an ALDI special you can't phone Aldi stores to check so Halfords did it anyway, £450 to £199 although I did have to try 3 halfords branches to get one which had the gadget.Freebie Manor was the name on the Plaque my mum gave me for first home which was equiped with freebie banded cups, teapot, coffee pot oh and a sofa which cost a bottle of Vodka. My motto's are don't ask dont get, and don't buy if they say no.0

MFI is always worth a try, should come out with at least free delivery and 5% off. This has been tried and tested by many a MSE user.
Thought MFI only ever had sale prices!7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
Tried at Currys. They promise to Pricematch. Found what I wanted at £25 dearer than the best I found. They wouldn't even take a pound off. They said that they can only pricematch their own internet site or Dixons. So of course they lost a sale.
I take it you went into a Currys store? I think they will price match stores but not online purchases (except DSG etc). Was the cheapest price you found on the net?0 -
Can get Sky HD for half price when taking out the full £43.50 package (£149 rather than £299) - sales person was getting desperate for my business and was willing to do it for me. I didn't fancy spending £53.50 a month and paying for the box + installation though (extra £10 is for HD).0

Today we were shopping for an Engagement for my best mate to propose with. We found one he liked in H Samuels and before going in I said, see if they will offer you a discount. He said he didn't feel he could because it was too cheeky. So I said just go along with what ever I say. So we went in, I um and ahh and said we were trying to decide on this one or one down the road for £50 less. We had a bit of banter and then I said, 'can you do anything about the price' (this sentence was suggested by another poster above). It's good cause it doesn't suggest a specific price and limit the answer. He umm'ed and ahh, but as I saw on that day time tv show about haggling, I fought the urge to say anything and made him fill the silence. He went away and came back offerring £50 off! My mate was astounded and really happy as he didn't have that much money to play with. Of course, I directed him to this site for more money saving tips!

I know haggling is fun (for the brave) but don't you sometimes feel ripped off when they suddenly drop the price?!
Car insurance is my favourite becasue most of the 'insurers' are brokers and they use the same company just adding their varying commissions.
I recently had a renewal notice from Norwich Union for £247. I searched Confused.com and got it down to £178 for exactly the same deal.
I was annoyed when I saw it was underwritten by Norwich Union! so I called to give them a piece of my mind and they offered to drop it to £198 - almost £50 cheaper than the renewal cost!! - whatever happened to loyalty bonuses!? I told them I found that offensive then re-insured with the online company so still with NU, via a different broker!

I can imagine a discount can make you wonder how much profit they were going to make if you hadn't asked!0

Just to say that on BBC1 weekend at 9.15am for 45 mins and is all about Haggling in shops and getting the best price for people.
Its really good and gives a good insight on how to haggle and the ways to go about it.
Me and my partner always haggle now and normally get something knocked off or put in for free.
Deffo worth a look.
Thanks*Don't let the b******s get you down*
