its roughly the same price, give or take a few cents,.

Don't know a site with updates prices but in April our
petrol was the equivalent to 1.70 euro and in France
it was 1.65 euro, so you talking a few pence difference.

    Edit...

linky to updated prices, of course they will vary at different
places, and depending on the exchange rate you get, but you
will still be talking pennies difference

The link you have given shows diesel in France at 1.52 Euros, when in fact it is being sold at present in many places around 1.31 Euros.
The price quoted in your link probably refers to motorway prices.

Are you quite sure that cars in France must have a sat nav?

    Why?

I think the reference to satnavs in France is in relation to those with speed camera databases. It is against the law in France (as of earlier this year) to have any device that warns of a speed trap and they have included sat navs which have the static camera warnings within this legislation. You don't have to have a sat nav to drive in France.

It was kind iof a throw away added comment not asked by the OP, which would have prompted (like you did) a further question by anyone not aware of new law re sat navs and breathalysers!

Sorry if it confused you but glad link has clarified ;)

Our sat nav has probably paid for itself finding just off route supermarkets to fill up at.
