its roughly the same price, give or take a few cents,.

Don't know a site with updates prices but in April our
petrol was the equivalent to 1.70 euro and in France
it was 1.65 euro, so you talking a few pence difference.

    Edit...

linky to updated prices, of course they will vary at different
places, and depending on the exchange rate you get, but you
will still be talking pennies difference

There is a bigger difference between supermarket and motorway service areas than in the UK, so avoid the latter if you can.

Avoid motorway services at all costs, after sixteen years we skipped France last year and again this year based on the ever increasing cost of fuel and supermarket shopping.

The exchange rate has changed in our favour but it's far from the cheap holiday it once was.

For the cheapest fuel find a small town Super U or Intermarche before the toll road (you do know about the tolls ?) brim it and plan your next fill up in advance or you'll pay through the nose.

The French cost of living increase has been good for us in one way, we've had to find somewhere to holiday in the UK and have now fallen for Pembrokeshire.

A good choice quiet, beautiful coastal scenery and some fantastic beaches.

Don't tell every one though and I'm not so sure about the wine.

Depends on where you buy. If you fill up near Calais at one of the supermarkets you could pay less than UK prices certainly

It will be pennies or cents as above but could easily be 6-10p a litre which adds up if you have a 60 or 70 litre fill up and certainl;y covers a chunk of your tolls each way?

french fuel prices site here (you want SP95 for unleaded)

Assume you are aware of other French requirements now (sat nav and breathalysers two main new ones?)

Diesel is still much cheaper in france and well worth filling up over there

The site listed in #9 also allows you to put in your route and find the prices all the way.
