Gawd, I feel sooo thick....
Hi,
Further to my post earlier about e2save, could you wonderful peeps clarify the following for me - I am certain you will all understand these better than me!!
1. Am I correct in thinking you pay the £20 pm fee and then they refund it further down the line?
2. After the twelve months do I just cancel the contract? Do I then need to return the phone or can I keep it?
3. Is the 'chequeback' that they talk about on the site the refund of the contract payment?
4. Whats the difference in money between cashback and automatic cashback and is this something on top of the monthly contract refund amount?
I find all this totally confusing.
All help greatfully received..
Ta muchly,
Jan

Hi Jan
Question 1/ Yes they refund it further down the line.
2/ You can cancel the contract, the phone is yours to keep or you can renew your contract and upgrade to a newer phone and still keep your old phone.
3/Yes the chequeback/cashback is a refund of the line rental
4/ Even I'm unsure on this one !!
Basicly what happens is at the end of the 12 month contract you will have paid the equivalent of £0 in line rental. You will have to pay the £20 pounds each month but they refund you this on certain months in your 12 month contract. You may think that they are giving you a phone for free, well really they are, they will be hoping you use more than the free mins and txts they give you and make money off you on your bills.0 -

As the other respondent wasn't able to explain this one for you I'll do it for him/her...
Normal cashback deals require you to submit a claim to obtain your cashback. In the case of E2Save this requires you to send a copy of your latest bill in to them along with a filled in voucher that they will supply you with.
Automatic cashback is where they simply send you a cheque at the specified time without the need for you to submit a claim.
In reality...where automatic cashback is concerned, customers sometimes have to remind the retailer of their obligations in this area as they sometimes "forget" to send the cheque - whether you believe this to be an honest mistake or a cynical ploy to reduce their outgoings is another story... (this critique is levelled at ALL online mobile retailers, not just E2Save)
Why do 2 forms of cashback deal exist? Well, the manual claim variety came first and the large amounts of cashback on offer were predicated on the basis that a certain number of customers would (a) forget to claim or (b) fail to follow the T&Cs and thus be justifiably refused cashback. A lot of bad press has surrounded the cashback contracts industry recently and many retailers decided it was time to offer a more upfront type of offer (and not before time) where the cashback is effectively guaranteed to be paid, subject to the customer simply not cancelling his contract and paying his bills on time - this is the "automatic" cashback route. However, in order to guarantee payment, the size of the payments has to be much smaller - typically in the region of 40-50% of the equivalent manual claim amount, which tells you something about the failure rate that exists within the manual claim route.
