changing your internet provider

We have been with the same broadband provider since broadband came to us nearly four years ago. I have added up how much we are paying for broadband, basic sky package and also our BT line with option 2 and it is huge so I have been trying to figure out the Sky three in one package.

Our first problem is that we live miles from the nearest exchange and at the moment only get 512 but our current internet provider orange/wanado/freeserve or whatever they are calling themselves this week will only upgrade us to 1.5mb with their unlimited package or 2mb with their starter package and this then ties us in for a further twelve months. (£14.99 and £19.99)

But we are big users of computers and quite often there is a computer and two laptops all running at the same time and someone is always downlaoding something music etc so the fair usage policy or restrictions would be no good to us. We have a wireless connection via a D-Link router.

For Sky again we have been with them forever and we are on the basic package, dont have sports or movies.

For BT we have option 2, free UK evening and weekend calls to 01 and 02 numbers but we could really do with free UK calls in the daytime as well. Will the Sky talk thing allow this?

Orange charge us £27, SKy £21 and BT £25 plus so you could say £80 a month so we could bring this figure down greatly if we could fathom our way around the system.

When we swap over do we have to tell BT to just send us a line rental bill and cancel the option 2 package or do they do this automatically. Also then what about other calls say to mobiles do you get a phone bill from BT for them or SKY talk?

Has anyone switched to this SKY 3 in one thing and how long does the switch over take?
