If anyone can help, i would really appreciate it, both of my sons 1st and 2nd choices have the same amount of entry points. Is that ok? He really only wants to go to the 1st choice though. Will this happen as the other uni is not as good, and further away."
that is fine but is very risky, it is best to have the insurance (if possible) as a lower grade, then if they by chance do not get the grades, then there is a back up. If both offers are the same than in practice you do not have to have a insurance uni. If your sons really want to go to their 1st choice, they only need to make a firm choice. Hope that helps.First ever win: Samsung Genio Touch Mobile Phone!!0 -
Also check the deadlines for applying for Halls of Residence. You can't usually make an application until you've accepted an offer, but Halls often get allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The cheapest Halls tend to go first and he could end up paying an extra £20 a week for the use of an en suite bathroom (which isn't usually much of a priority with teenage lads!)."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Now my son would have an "A" in muttering for sure. :rotfl: :rotfl:

There's nothing wrong, it's just a bit pointless. If he gets the grades he'll go to his first choice but if he doesn't he hasn't got a fall back position. If he doesn't get the grades he needs he'll need to be prepared to go through Clearing, so make sure that you're all around in the summer when the results come out.0 -

Thanks. Let's hope he gets the grades. First time I've been through this.:TKind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. ~ Mother Teresa0 -
Yeah your second choice isn't necessarily the uni (s)he'd second most want to go to. It can be the one that he/she won't mind going if they stuff up their A Levels. So lower grades can be an advantage.
That said you don't necessarily have to choose one with lower grades - because if your first offer declines you as you don't make the grades the second might decide to accept you if they have a lot of places available. Not getting the grades doesn't always mean you won't get in your first choice as they can be flexible about it.
Although if you miss by a couple grades you'll usually get rejected - that's why say your first choice is AAB.. it's wise to have your second choice having grades as BBB or there abouts..0 -
Many thanks for all these replies. I have a much clearer view of things. He has an interview tomorrow. I know this is off the point but any suggestions as to what he should wear? He has a very limited "smart" wardrobe.0

Don't forget that Open Days have a strong sales element to them. Keep this in mind while they're telling you how wonderful it is.0 -
If all else fails, Clearing is a good alternative. I'm now on a much better course than I would have been if I hadn't looked at the spare places available!!!

everones deadline is different. It goes of what day you last offer was made on. My deadline is something like the 4th May. Remember to read YOUR last offer letter to find out when your deadline is0
