Panasonic phone - one ring only!

I have a new Panasonic KX-TG 8063E cordless phone. It's weird because it only rings once and then goes quiet.
I have looked through the manual and tried unplugging it and replugging it, but it is still the same. It happens with the ansafone off or on. And Panasonic customer service are too busy to reply.....
Any ideas, please?

Battery not fully charged.0

Thanks, Spike - I will try charging more. You speak with such authority! I will try charging longer before use.0

Does the base unit ring? It should as it has nothing to do with a battery.
Have you tried another phone?
Can you try it in someone else's house?0 -
Is someone pranking you and just letting the phone ring once then cutting off?
Or is there a line fault?0 -
I had that same problem recently with DECT phones - it was a a "ring trip" fault on the line.Had to get BT out as the fault was in their wire from the external junction box to my "master" socket..0

Thanks, all.
Looks like a mixture of things. We tried disconnecting and charging again overnight. Then I rang TalkTalk and they checked the line and said there is a fault and they will get BT engineers to sort it (after the bank holiday!)
But.....as always happens, it seems to be working OK now anyway before they have done anything! But i'll keep my head down...0 -
If you go into the Anserphone mode and from there to Settings.
You will find an option to set the number of rings. (You do on ours anyway)I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
The ring settings is for the answering machine to start -I don't think that has anything to do with what the OP is talking about.0

Yay! Thanks everyone. I don't know exactly what the ptoblem was but it's sorted.
I recharged the phone fully and reconnected it. At the same time, I called TalkTalk who checked and confirmed there was a fault on the line so they sent a BT engineer. When he came (the next day!) the phone seemed to ne working OK but he changed some of the cabling inside the house.
So thanks to everyone!0
