Cancelling an upgrade
Options
Hi,
Was telephoned by vodaphone on wednesday 30th May to offer me an early upgrade I asked them to ring me back tomorrow to see if they were genuinly vodafone. They called back thursday 31st May and I agreed to an early upgrade on the provision that it would be delivered the next day as I was going on holiday on the sunday. Got a text to confirm it was being delivered on the friday 1st June. The morning of the 1st June I received a text saying my phone would be delivered Wednesday 6th June, rung vodafone they said the guy had missed the deadline by four minutes, told them I wanted to cancel the upgrade as I have had loads of problems with vodaphone in the past and I had enough. Told they would cancel, ten minutes later and they call me back to say they cannot cancel til I receive the phone. Explained that I was going on holiday and the phone has not been dispatched I was told I had seven days to cancel. They told me the phone has gone to there courier and I could cancel when I received the phone; however I am now paying a higher rate because my upgrade was more but no new phone. Vodafone said they cannot do anything until I get the phone and send it back. They broke the deal I made with the guy. When I checked the tracking on the phone it wasnt sent to there courier until the night of the 1st June What a joke!! Any advise??

They lie that they cannot cancel.
They can and they should.
In the worst case scenario send them a recorded letter that you cancel the upgrade.
And learn your lesson about Vodafone in general and Vodafone salesmen, especially if they cold call you.0 -
Thank you for your reply I'm soooooo angry with Vodaphone tried to speak to managers but no joy!!
I have learnt my lesson for sure0 -

If you don't sign for receipt of the handset, then it will have to be returned anyways, so in the meantime enjoy your holiday and spare some time to think about purchasing a handset outright and going sim only, this is a great spec smartphone at under £200 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/ces/9006563/CES-2012-Intel-announces-first-smartphones-with-Lenovo-and-Motorola.html
saves on the agro of upgrading and false great deals which so many of you seem to get suckered into :cool:0
