Barclays are now offering a normal current account where you the customer picks what add ons you want, so they just have the current account & the 70k+

The only 2 that are worth having IMO is the phone insurance & RAC, travel insurance is a con as its so much cheaper on a moneysupermaket compare site.

    Looks like RAC includes travel.

    https://featuresstore.barclays.co.uk/apply/FeaturesStore?account=personal

need to check in detail but this may work out cheaper for us than the current one we use.

Handy with Barclays on joint acounts is you get double individual cover on oth RAC and travel, not joint cover. Need to check this still applies(we travel speperately sometimes) .

You an also get the premier with £50k savings not hard with an offset mortage.

I'm paying for a premier account at the moment. Sounds like a bit of a con now. Maybe I should move on.....

Is it the premier life or the premier account as these 2 were or are not the same.

Ok, so I came here looking to find out if my existing Barclay's Additions Active account is worth it or can I get better elsewhere (e.g, First Direct; £125 cash-back, £250 overdraft, 8% saver acc., which is a + as I'm currently saving approx 1/2 my earnings a month for a 5-10% deposit for my 1st house) @ £15.00 p/m (I know!! I hear you...£15??!! !!!!!!??!!!) if you could bear with me, this fee comes with the following:
    £300 Interest-Free Agreed Overdraft
    Roadside cover (RAC, I think)
    Annual Travel Insurance
    Mobile Phone Insurance
Electrical appliance cover - if registered within 30 days(never remember to register items)
(There maybe some other stuff like Will Writing Service which I don't use)

    So is this account overpriced?
Are there better deals out there?

Any advice, experiences, knowledge or information is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Are you sure you couldn't get the roadside cover cheaper directly from RAC.

    Do you travel a lot?

Mobile Phone insurance generally isn't worth bothering with and you could probably buy it cheaper directly anyway.

Add the 15 quid to your house fund.

I switched banks from Smile where I was paying £12 a month for similar stuff to First Direct and it was one of the best decisions I've made.

They really are terrific service wise.

I quite agree its defiantly a lot more cheaper doing it sepratley especially travel insurance which is very cheap and most families would only travel abroad once or twice a year.

RAC and AA are defiantly cheaper then £150 a year to.

For that I'd want the Full AA / RAC package including Roadside Assistance, Home Start, Relay and Stay Mobile which these cheap bank packages don't cover (i.e. you have to have premier with TSB for that and buying from the AA / RAC is cheaper)

I use HSBC for my main banking and in general have been very impressed with their service. What really lets them down is their packaged accounts, they are total rubbish. The Barclays Additions account really puts HSBC's Advance account in the shade.

Barclays Additions includes RAC comprehensive cover which can be in excess of £140 per year. When you factor in that there is also the worldwide family travel insurance, mobile phone cover, legal helpline and gadget insurance and much more I think that this account is a clear winner at £180 per year. I have an Additions account just for the benefits. Does anyone think that I am over rating the additions account or missing something?

the bank cover looks good to me

    Barclays(additions+)

Is full individual european cover in any car for both account holders
travel is the same full worldwide, reasonable limits, for 2 people.

then there are the other bits that we don't use fully.

Convenient OK price if you use both, continuous cover no renewals.

We also have a platinum account(legacy account) that has other benifits like free CHAPS.

The think that might be usefull for us is the airport lounges we did think about the premier ccount for an extra £2.50, need to review the cuurent offerings against the additions+.
