Ive been to the local one, It was full of dodgy people trying to tax other people's cars and people with one day insurance trying to tax cars, because the post office told them to come back with a longer certificate.
It was busy and a guy came along the queue asking why you were there. Passing forms out to people who wanted them.
But i was surprised at the amount of people he turned away, Mostly trying to tax cars not in their name or with no log book at all.
He had to tell several people that no V5 or buyers slip then no tax. Apply for the V5 and wait then tax it.
I only went in to post a licence as its closer than the post office.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Never been in one. They can shut them all down and let you do more on line.0

Judging by the retards staffing the local one, we'd be better off without it.0

They can shut the Oxford one - why would you put a DVLA office where you can't park? Their solution is to ask you to take photos of your vehicle if you want to change the taxation class!0

Hasn't Glasgow DVLA already closed? How the !!!! will we be able to tell the difference? A prime example how national, unified paper-work gets rid of local, officious, useless see you next tuesdays.0

The Norwich one is on a road with limited parking and I have never been in there.
To the OP why do we need local DVLA offices my family have never needed it in over 35 years of motoring0 -
I didn't know local DVLA offices existed, but then I'm not in the motor trade I guess. What services do they offer that can't be easily completed either online or in a post office?
Perhaps the OP would like to make the case for why the offices should actually be kept open?
I have sympathy for anyone whose job is threatened, but on the face of it this would seem a sensible government cost saving.0 -
There's a special place reserved in hell for the DVLA

In person? At the office?
Personally, I've found the Bristol office to be very helpful on the three occasions I've been there. Providing advice on my situation that would have been a nightmare to resolve when dealing with a call centre droid reading from a script. What goes around - comes around0 -
Less admin people working for the civil service?
Cant see anyone objecting to that.0
