Tesco PAYG questions

Hello - hoping someone can help with a few mobile questions.

I'm planning on doubling my clubcard vouchers and buying a phone from Tesco. I thought I'd use the opportunity to bring myself up to date and get a smartphone. I'm not a big phone user and maybe send 100 texts a year rather than every month so was going to stick with PAYG. However, maybe I'll get the bug and end up topping up a lot. If this is the case can I just buy a sim and move to a contract?

Had a good look at the website and couldn't see anything that says I couldn't.

Also, is there anything to stop me unlocking the phone right away or do they want you to stick on the Tesco network for a period of time?

Thanks for the help.

Do you really want to spend a lot more on mobiles? Don't go with Tesco just because they are offering points. A cash discount with another supplier could be cheaper.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Happy MJ - I'm not worried about points. I have clubcard vouchers to spend and as you can currently double their value and I have some nearing expiry it seemed to make sense.

JHP - but what happens if I like my snazzy new phone and I do a lot of surfing. Is it easy to swap to a contract?

Any phone can be unlocked, but the cost depends on the phone and the network: Mobile Unlocking. No need in unlocking and easy to switch if the contract is the same network.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a contract. There are some good PAYG deals around with mobile internet allowance giffgaff and Ovivo.
