What are the ingredients on the packet? I guess you could try it and see.
It won't be as knobbly - be more smooth looking

Excuse my ignorance but is it just porridge oats you use?

Also, what type of flour - plain? Would 'normal' sugar be just as good?

    Thanks. :)
Plain flour is better otherwise it will be like cake.

White sugar will work but will be less nutty

It depends on the texture you want as to the oats you use. Larger oats will be more knobbly.

You could try freezing them 'raw' and just cook as many as you need when the oven is on for something else.

Making double the quantity to freeze would save time and only cooking a few at a time would limit the amount eaten!

I recently spotted a recipe on here for Oat Cakes which turn out like Hob Nob biscuits. I wrote down the recipe and then promptly lost it. Have done a search but can't find it (new to all this :o).

Could someone post this again as I'd like to make some today?(have been promising to do this for days).

(apple_mint repeats to herself, 'must be more organised', 'must be more organised' ... ) :o

I lost a few recipes myself, so what I do now when I see one I like the sound of is copy and paste it into a word document, and save it in a folder named 'recipes'. It's best to do this straight away, as I find threads can quickly drop off the front page of the board and it can be quite an effort to find them again!

  • I do the same as Newleaf.

I'm going to have a go at these with some dried cranberries today.

  • yummm- eating one right now!

Better than hob-nobs but very hob-nob-ish! DH and kids love them too - will be doing these often. I rolled them into little balls and flattened them with a fork dipped in sugar - easier then cutting them I think.

I have a fan oven and baked them for 13 mins. Perfect!!!

ps used regular sugar, as I didn't have any brown.
