I recently spotted a recipe on here for Oat Cakes which turn out like Hob Nob biscuits. I wrote down the recipe and then promptly lost it. Have done a search but can't find it (new to all this
).
Could someone post this again as I'd like to make some today?(have been promising to do this for days).
(apple_mint repeats to herself, 'must be more organised', 'must be more organised' ... )

I'd like this one too, I love Hob Nobs.
Apple if it's an consolation you are not alone, I have hunted the house this morning for my copy of the Paupers Cookbook (the original one) and it looks like I may have thrown it out when I was sorting out the bedrooms, it took me 9 years to find the last oneOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Was it the one I posted in the storecupboard challenge? I would say they are more like a cross between hob nobs and shortbread - if that makes any sense! I have copied the post for you here:
This is my recipe for 'Mums Oaty Biscuits'. Well - its my mums recipe as you can maybe tell, but they are FABULOUS and I have used white sugar instead of the brown and they are almost as good. Imperial measurements (showing my mums age), but not difficult to translate - eg multiply by 25 for a rough gram equivalent
Ingred
8oz flour
8oz oats
8oz marg
3oz soft brown sugar
Beat together sugar and marg. Mix in oats and flour. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thick (0.5 cm or slightly more) and cut into rounds with pastry cutters.
Bake on a greased tray in a preheated over for 30 mins at 350 deg f (don't know C equivalent, if you need it it should be easy to find online)0 -
Instead of rolling/cutting could you just break off blobs and shape/flatten by hand? I'm all for an easy life
Also, the only brown sugar I have in right now is dark muscavado ... time to experiment me thinks"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

That's the one - thank you Trow. I don't have pasty cutters so I'll do the same as curry_queen :-)Enjoying an MSE OS life0

Excuse my ignorance but is it just porridge oats you use?
Also, what type of flour - plain? Would 'normal' sugar be just as good?

Might be tempted to try this tonight. I have some soft brown sugar that I need to use, and biscuits always get eaten in two seconds flat in our house (along with coffee cake and scones).Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

You do not need pastry cutters - use a glass or cup of the right size - even an egg cup would do:):)

That's a good idea elona - I'll try that. Eldest daughter's new boyfriend is here today. He seemed quite impressed with the aroma of chicken in red wine sauce cooking in my shiny new slow-cooker (bought yesterday with this month's PMS money). The oat biscuits will probably make him think that we are a household of cooks :-). Eldest daughter's cooking skills run to taking a pizza out of a box and putting it into the oven ... heheEnjoying an MSE OS life0
