The angles are most definitely the same whether you use a dedicated tool or a mitre box.45 degrees is 45 degrees however you achieve it.I suspect you were putting the coving into the box wronly fatnbald.I use a homemade mitre box for all my coving and i have done miles of the stuff.0

I use a paper template the builder's merchants gave me. I draw a pencil line on the cove, score it with a Stanley knife and snap it.
I've often thought about a box but I've heard a lot of people saying the boxes are not all that accurate, especially the plastic ones.Herman - MP for all!
