Coving mitre tool

A friend has said he'd help me fit some coving, and has said he's seen other people using a coving mitre tool, for fitting two pieces of coving in corners.

He said unfortunately he doesn't know what it's called

Can anyone confirm it's propper name (if it isn't a "coving mitre too"), the best place to pick one up, and any other recomendations/advice on getting one?

Thankyou :)

One version is called Wondermitre Trade, I got mine from Travis Perkins builders merchants for about £10 as I recall, it is easy to use and made of metal.
They have some plastic ones in the DIY stores but they are dreadful to use (I tried them).

Unfortunately I sold mine on ebay a few months back.

I've used the plastic one, go it from Focus or Homebase, can't remember which. Worked fine, just don't push to hard on it or it can go out of shape.

This is not just a plain mitre box as you have to cut internal right and left..and external right and left corners..It is based on a piece of board about 18" square with two pieces of 100mm wood fixed at right angles with a 45 degree cut at the joint ..then batton fixed either side of this piece and running parrallel to it ..the distance these other pieces are fixed is governed by the size of coving . If anyone wants a photo of the proper thing that I made PM me and I will take a picture ..

I bought one from QVC which came with a saw and allows you to accurately cut any angle needed. It was called a "magic Mitre" (lot of thought in that name!) and it is really really good.

The saw itself is pretty good quality too. Hope that helps.

coving mitre guides are not the same as normal mitre blocks, the angles are different, if you try it with a normal mitre block you get lots of eliptical joints with gaps in the middle, I tried it!
