BBC Good Food is an excellent website too.
I do love Delia as well
Allrecipes.com is good although quite american based.
I'm sure I will think of more.
The internet is the best resource!
I do have a few books which are pretty good, Mr has lots of Gary Rhodes books which can be good. I like Cook with Jamie (Oliver) too, covers the basics and has some good ideas, some of them not too fancy.

Hi laurawaite,
I agree with others that there are so many recipes online that I rarely need to use a book for recipe ideas anymore.
If you do want to buy a book though, have a look through The Complete Old Style Book collection where there are lots of recommendations.
and also these very recent threads which haven't been added to the index yet:

Finally don't forget the Old Style recipe thread.
Good luck with sorting out the debt,

Delia's Complete Cookery Course. If I ever want to know anything, I refer to that. I've just bought a copy to put in my daughter's Christmas hamper!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

I've just bought Nigel Slater's books "Real Fast Food" and "The Thirty-minute Cook" and they're full of interesting but not fancy recipes (and made me chuckle too). You don't mention whether you have children, but most of the recipes are for 2 people, as he says it's easier to multiply the amounts in a recipe than to divide it. I think I'll be using these books a lot!0

I think Delia and Nigel Slater too - Delia's recipes NEVER GO WRONG - amazing, and Nigel's look really home made in the pictures - he cooks sausages and potatoes and humble things which can be delicious, and his recipes are clear and easy to understand, and very forgiving. You can tell he just loves food !0

I find the library good for recipe books - then I can just buy the ones I really like!
Except I've lost my library card at the moment :mad:0 -
I really like the good food cookery books. I have:-
101 Simple suppers
101 One pot meals
and 101 Cheap eats.
Easy to follow - nothing too fancy and the method is broken into 3 paragraphs which makes it all nice and easy.
Some of the recipes do take over an hour to cook but you can see which ones as it lists clearly what the cooking time is. I save those ones for the weekend and pick the half hour ones instead
Edit: They are much smaller books (nearer A5 size) and cost about £5 each.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
