Combi Boiler Problems (Biasi)

Hello,

I own a Biasi Riva Compact HE combi boiler that is failing to light. If either the hot water or central heating is switched on, a switch clicks and nothing happens. After a few seconds the LED's on the unit indicate the following error (according to the manual):

"Faulty primary circuit (no water or absence of flow)"

The pressure is at 1.5 bar and there doesn't appear to be any problems with the water pressure. I have bled the radiators and spun the pump but this hasn't helped.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with this problem?

Many thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.

I am no plumber, but the most common fault for failure to light is the thermocouple I understand.

You might get a better response in the 'In my home' section of this forum; where I think there are some plumbers that give advice

    Hi

There is a sensor somewhere that's not working.
I would say you need to get someone in. Book something through Biasi

  • Thanks for your replies.

I had a plumber out to look at the boiler a few weeks ago and he couldn't fix the problem. I have now contacted Biasi who have given me the name of their recommended regional plumber.

    Thanks again
  • Just to follow-up briefly. It is definitely worthwhile going direct to the manufacturer as the recommended engineer fixed my problem quickly (faulty PCB).. AND.. even though the boiler was 6 months out of warranty I called Biasi anyway and they offered to replace the faulty component!

    Hi

  • One of the most popular faults with the HE boilers is that the drainage sump within the boiler blocks with mush from the HE process....these have a sensor fitted to not allow the boiler to 'fire up'
Secondly.. though your pressure gauge reads 1.5 bar, it may be a little blocked with system sludge; your boiler may well have a water pressure switch fitted which if low will not allow the boiler to run!...have this pressure switch removed and clened or replced.
