If they're diggers they'll dig... just a matter of where
You may well be right though.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
My dog used to go mining regularly in my garden till someone gave me a tip that worked.
Put some of his own poo where he digs and he will avoid the area like the plague. Sounds mad, but it really did stop him digging and he's never done it since!0 -
Achive garden might keep cats out....... *considers marketing this and making millions*0

I've come to the conclusion if I don't want to break my legs falling down holes when I put the washing out, I will need to concrete my garden and just paint it green :rotfl:A heap big thank you to everyone who posts the comps, your all stars!
Proud to of never used or felt the need to use a chain of any sorts on a puppy0 -
an old friend of mine had this trouble, and he spent ages doing this, then he had an idea, he said his dor always used to sniff the hole before carrying on digging, so he left the holes for a month or so and put pepper in each hole daily. this way the dog would sniff and sneeze and be put off digging. sadly we lost contact so i never found out if it worked...
maybe the dog ate him0 -
My dog keeps digging up my raised bed - any tips on how to stop him?
It wont happen over night, trust me I know from past experience but perseverance will pay off.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

I'm pleased it is not just my two! I have a huge garden where they can run wild but I have fenced off a small square to plant flowers and bulbs (where my two dogs are buried) and they still manage to jump over the 30" fencing or fight their way through/over the bushes beside it to dig up my plants! No sooner I plant the flowers and bulbs, they dig them back up. I'm finding huge holes all over my garden too, I think they are making an underground tunnel. I'm pleased it's the garden they are digging and no longer my stair carpet but I keep thinking if I only had the one and not the two (Yorkie brothers), they wouldn't be doing this - they are just naughty and egging each other on.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0

Good to see i'm not the only one who has this problem!!
My OH has built a little fence round the bed which has solved the problem for now. I can't help thinking it looks like my flowers are in prison though!
I fully expect darling dog to pull fence apart within the week!!:rotfl:0 -
give him a spade, and let him get on with it0

I trained my Nan's dog to dig on command when I was younger. I just said 'dig' and pointed to the spot with my foot. It was great when I was asked to go and get potatoes from the veg patch
Only problem was when I accidentally did something resembling the 'foot point' signal, I'd suddenly get showered in soil from a digging dog...
Not that that's very helpful either, but maybe you could teach you dog to dig on command then it might be less keen to do it other times?0
