None, as I now have no garden left since Dog Number 2 has ripped up all plants and emptied all (heavy large ceramic) pots in garden...
The joys of dog ownership!0 -
Mine has either dug up or eaten every single plant in my garden
My lawn looks like it has been through an episode of Time Team the amount of holes in it!
I keep considering getting some new plants but I know there is no point as they will be eaten within 5 minutes of being planted out.
The only thing he hasn't eaten is my pot of chives!0 -
Sorry msnigella, not being very helpful are we?0

At least you know you're not alone. I'm sure there's all sorts of things you could do from exercising your dog morning, noon and night to heavy obedience training to turn him into a robot... but when a dog's gotta dig, a dog's gotta dig!
Garden v dog..?? have to say, I like my garden, but there's no contest really!
Edit - Katy... how about a chive lawn..?? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
A chive lawn :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: How funny.
I feel your pain... Our garden is terrible also.0 -
can you not build him his own area with a run or little fenced in part, patch to dig etc maybe a kennel and some toys? sorry only thing i can think of other than banning dog from garden:o***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0

You could try getting him a kids sandpit, fill it with soil (not compost as it might contain chemicals) & encourage him to dig in that by hiding treats there.
Mind you, when all the treats have gone he'll probably go straight back to the garden so maybe not such a good ideaAlways try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
Chive lawn could be a good idea, but my garden would stink of onions!!
I had thought about the sandpit idea too, but then decided he would just kick all the contents everywhere and then once it was empty move on to digging up my flower beds.
Has anyone else tried a sandpit? Can you train them to only dig in there?0 -
I always reckoned that a sandpit would teach them to dig more!0
