Well mini update, I got an acknowledgement letter today saying they were sorry I felt I needed to complain about my PPi and that they will look into it and be in touch soon. Plus a leaflet on how they deal with complaints.

I guess its better than them instantly saying no were not helping. So fingers crossed something may happen. I had all the account numbers for both the loans and the PPI so they should be able to trace it surely. It was on their system I know that much as it was one of their people who gave them to me so fingers crossed they will have the info.

I will keep this thread updated with how I get on.

    PPI Party Pooper
Just to let you know my experience, I sent in a complaint for PPI on a credit card to HSBC. I sent sample statements from 2002 to 2009 - one for each year showing PPI highlighted, letters from them with the account number on the, including the one where they withdrew the card and closed everyone's account in 2009.

8 weeks later I got a letter back - from what I can tell in this forum a standard letter - telling me that as the account was closed more than six years ago and that I sent no evidence they have closed my complaint and unless I can send evidence they will not reopen it. And that I could go to FO if I wanted.

Whoever looked at my claim was clearly not doing their job properly as 2009 is not 6 years ago and I sent evidence. So I have complained about my complaint :-) and sent everything to them again, and a general complaint to the CEO office. If I don't hear anything from them by 5 month after the date of the last letter I'll definitely go to FO as I know I was mis-sold.

I think HSBC might be sending out these generic letters to lots of people hoping they will give up.

Hope that helps and gives you a bit of hope. I think sometimes we will just have to persevere and wait.

Oh yes don't worry I fully intend to take it as far as I can as I was totally duped by tthem on the PPI. I was struggling as a young girl in my first jobs and coping with my parents splitting I took their word for it when they said I needed the PPI to be able to get the loan agreed. They never mentioned that my temping was an issue either and used the place I was temping at as a reference each time not the agency. It was all lies and smokes and mirrors with them.

I hope you manage to get something back. I hope we both do .
