No longer with HSBC but I did have PPI worth trying to claim?

I had PPI on several loans with HSBC and was never told it was optional, I only found out through this whole PPI claiming thing.
I've no idea of the account numbers etc is it worth me trying to find it all out? I would have given the account up in 2002 when I went into an IVA but the loan was paid off before that.
What would I need to do? I'm since married and moved etc with no record of previous addresses etc. How hard will this be?

My understanding was that if the account has been inactive for 7 years, then there's little chance of a refund. That said, what have you got to lose? The company who dealt with your IVA should have the account numbers. Failing that, go into a branch of HSBS with some photo Id and details of your previous address and they should be able to provide you with the account numbers. That's all you need to start a claim. Good luck!0

It costs £10 per lender and is only guaranteed to include all information on record for the past six years. Anything older is not guaranteed, because it will likely have been destroyed.
It's also pertinent to point out that the Bank will likely want statements to prove payments were actually made for finance older than six years.
So it's up to the OP whether the £10 is worth the gamble for loans from 2002.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the replies to my original post. I popped into HSBC today and got the info of the accounts they said I did have PPI on 2 loans and they are under 10yrs old but more than 6 ( my guess is theyre around 8-9years as thats when we took the Lloyds loan out to cover both and pay everything off. )
How likely is it we will get anywhere? Weve no previous statements as I only keep them for 2yrs at most. I have the account number though so where do i go with these. The bank said I write to head office but which form do i need? will it be the £10 request thingy? We could seriously do with some financial payout if its possible so I'm happy to pay the £10 if needed.
I'd appriciate any help you can give. I have tried reading through it all and so much goes over my head.0 -

and follow the simple steps.
Fill in an Ombudsman Questionnaire (available at the link) for each of the two loans with PPI and send them to;
HSBC, PPI Complaints
PO BOX 6177
COVENTRY
CV3 9HP
http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/contact-us/payment-protection-insurance?HBEU_dyn_lnk=HomePage_QuickLinks_PPI_Link
Do be aware that your lack of documentation will be a distinct disadvantage for a complaint from so long ago.
You should also be open to the possibility that any redress could go towards your defaulted debts.0 -
Thank you for the reply, I have just sent the letter off to request my documents lets hope they have them for me. Then I shall do the claim as soon as they get back to me.
The IVA wasnt anything to do with these loans so surely they will have nothing to do with each other , We cleared the IVA and sorted our credit out years ago and have a clean credit file now so surely this will not have anything to do with it?
I shall keep this thread updated with how I get on.0 -
Well I have had no reply in over 3 weeks. I'm not sure what my next step should be.
Any idea?0 -

Dear mummybaker, with HSBC saying you had two PPI on loans, the issue may be why the mis-sell. In my case, I was self-employed. Please check-out this web-site (i.e. Martin Lewis for reasons for claiming). Good Luck!!0

When I sent the original letters off it was just to request my documents. They havent replied so today I'm submitting my compliant with the account details I have to hand.
I have copies of the document request which I shall keep with the recorded mail reciepts incase I need it to send to the ombudsman.
Keep your fingers crossed for me as not only was I told it was something I had to take out to get the loan agreed, i was never told it was optional and I was a temp for agencies at the time so it would never have paid out I was a week here a month there all over the place.
I will keep this thread going until I have some answers. Keep your fingers crossed for me xxx0 -
