    How were you charged?
    Debit card.
I have spoken to my bank and they said the chargeback scheme requires me to approach the retailer first. It's a dispute and not fraud.
    and no email confirmation whatsoever
This was not an automatic email. I specifically requested it because I'm pretty careful like that.
and gonna go the chargeback route
Let me/us know how you get on. My experience is your bank will expect you to go to the retailer first and apparently the rules of the chargeback scheme back them up on this.

I think I'm safe as I have email confirmation that my account was closed, but not sure how long it will take.

ARGH.........got charged by them today despite closing my account in June.
    Luckily I have email proof.
Has anyone else been through the process of getting a refund from them?

Same here! Got charged today even though they 'confirmed' by secure message that my account would be closed. That was at the start of June.

I've just phoned them, they had a record of my closure instruction, but were blaming 'system problems'. They were apologetic, but it's going to take them 10 working days to refund the money to my bank account!

    Shambles.

but it's going to take them 10 working days to refund the money to my bank account!

    Thanks for that info.
The person I spoke to says he wasn't authorised to agree refunds (depite the fact he had my confirmation email) but would put it into the "process".
I am confident they will sort it but as you say it's a pain to be without the money for a period of time and hassle we don't need.

Ditto, not only that but the dividends from BP and SSE have been paid to them.

Sent a mail to complain about the charge and telling them to refund and to pass the divis on to my new account but no response as yet....

So check your anticipated dividends too.....

Charged, like others, £20 this month despite response from iii that they would close our 2 separate accounts by 2 separate secure messages promising so on each account well before their deadline. Screenshots taken of their promise and our complaints. Awaiting response.

It's clear iii have taken the mick, I would advise you to go the charge back route and explain to your bank you requested your account closed and show them the proof. you got 120 days if it was a visa debt transaction, to get your dosh back.

This is turning out to be a nightmare.
They have taken the money, despite confiming account closure in June.
This has led to an overdrawn situation, and, no doubt, charges forthcoming.

I have replied to the original closure email asking for an immediate refund.
Will call them tomorrow morning, as well.

I wonder how many people will not notice and iii will keep the money?

Again I repeat the chargeback scheme rules means you to approach the retailer first yourself. If the retailer fails to refund the you can go to your bank, but my bank (Nat West) have said they will do nothing until the "dispute" is taken up with the retailer.

Thanks for the reminder on the timescale. I was told I should get an email within a "few days" from iii.
