I don't think there is anything more special than finding out what you have until the moment the baby is born. Being told we had a boy (we have 2) or a girl (we have 1) at that time was magical and gave me something to look forward to during the labour. I struggle to work out why people get so hung up about finding out the sex before the baby is born. I mean it's just about whether to buy pink/blue really. However I appreciate people will equally struggle to work out why I DIDN'T want to know too.

There's more to it than just buying pink or blue.

In my case, I just want to have time to deal with the slight disappointment that I know I would feel if I was to find out my chances of ever raising a daughter were over. The last thing I want is to feel any disappointment once I have my baby in my arms!

Moreover, I need to know the gender of the baby to be able to focus on finding a suitable name.

Fingers crossed I am carrying a daughter, but she will most certainly be inheriting plenty of blue hand-me-downs from her big brother.

I totally respect people who prefer the surprise, I personally just really want to know; we're keeping the surprise for friends and family though!

I found out because I have 2 teenage boys and a toddler girl. We have a 4 bedroom house so wanted to know how big an issue it would be with regard to bedrooms. We're having a new kitchen put in and are going top of the range which we didn't want to do if we were going to move in a few years. OK a young boy and girl could share for a fair few years but I'd rather have just moved now and spent the money on the new house. As it is, it's a girl so they can share until they're teenagers and start killing one another :D

That was similar to why I wanted to know - I was utterly convinced that roversbaby was a girl, I was calling the bump she and could only think of girls names. Its not that I only wanted a girl, its just that was what I was convinced I was having.

We found out we were having a boy at the 20 week scan which gave us 19 weeks to think of a name :D . Also, when we finally decided on a name (took a good couple of months), it was nice to call the bump by his name.

I'm really glad that I found out and if I had the time over again, I would still do the same thing.

I would love to find out the sex, so I can drown the filthy evil dirty female at birth. NOT!

Thankfully I am not Muslim, Christian, or Jew, and believe purely in the beauty of life through Evolution.

The fact that XY-chromasones are decided by nature is something I prefer to leave to nature.

Societies that are left imbalanced due to religious beliefs are f**ked up and lead to suicide bombings, etc.

Finding out the sex before is a great thing of science and allows planning of the nursery before hand. But it also plays into thre hands of evil religious people too.
