I have to deal with people like this older gent all the time. People who are all sweetness and light when they want something but rude and unhelpful otherwise.

Had a good giggle at the point where you left him at the roadside. I probably shouldn't have done!

I'd have put my V's up as I drove off too

I've used it, it works well if used correctly.

Yes it does work if used correctly but it can only handle normal nail/screw punctures. I
If used, as the op later stated, on a ripped or blown tyre it can sometimes seal but fail again disasterously.

I have also read that once used, some tyre shops will not attempt to repair the tyre, but stand to be corrected.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Thanks for this - I will look in to this after payday :D

Pleased to help and I hope you can benefit from my experience.
As a motorcyclist I did not have the luxury of a spare wheel and carried holts tyre weld. When I got a simple puncture, it did not seal the leak. I limped to the next garage where I bought another can. It did not seal either and I limped home topping up the tyre at each garage I passed. Some might say I wasn't using it properly <LMAO>. I have used plugs since and they have always worked well ......... for me.

It is only £9.73 surely you can afford that?

With that you need to take the wheel off, ream out the hole, and insert a rubber string into it. I'd still use a can of tyreweld instead, or slime with a mini compressor.

I carry both. My car came with slime and a mini compressor, but IMHO plugs are far more reliable.

You do not need to take the wheel off. Simply roll the car forward to facilitate access to the location of the puncture.

I've used tyeweld, worked fine, and a lot easier than scrambling in the wheel arch trying to push a piece of rubber into a hole you can't see. Possibly on a motorbike were the tyre is exposed, and you can roll it backwards and forwards easily while looking at it you could get away with it. Still, each to his own.

I also know someone who after using tyreweld continued to use the tyre for another year.. until the tread wore out. This is the local independent specialist who used to maintain my car before I moved house too.

He didn't hang about when driving on that tyre either. Overtook me in the snow in his turbocharged MX5 and then proceeded to take every corner sideways on the downhill stretch.

He reckons the "get you home repair" claim is just a disclaimer in case it doesn't work, but that since it gunks up the entire inside surface of the tyre it seals just fine and lasts.

I have had a phone call this morning from the Friends i was attending too when this sorry story started.

They have recived a letter this morning pushed through the door attepting to claim for the tow/damage and his time due to their 'incompetence and sheer negligence' in keeping their property in order. (He is aledging the state of the road caused the damage to his Car)

He assumed the road (being a private one) is theirs.

OOOOh i am so very angry

Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...
