Horticultural Vinegar or pet safe weed killer

Just saw some malt vinegar for twenty odd pence per half litre in Aldi, wish I had bought that now.

Tried the white vinegar on some areas a few days ago. The weeds still standing high, have just thanked me for killing the surrounding lawn grass which rapidly turned brown!

Tried mixing it with salt and soap and pouring on the leaves in the sun this time. It stinks a bit.
