The vast majority of those links are in regard to salt poisoning in humans by excessive intake. All the world oceans are salt water so how exactly is it poisonous? The worlds oceans are teeming with life in water that if your drank would make you ill but it's not poisonous or toxic. Replace the oceans salt water with glysophate and see whats left alive... Nothing, it will kill everything. Go poison yourself mate I couldn't care less
how is that gonna happen !!!!!!?Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

I took over a 5 acre smallholding following 10 years of ownership by an eco-nerd.
Suffice to say that after 3 years it is much more manageable & productive, with no ragwort, no bracken and many fewer thistles and docks. Some stuff, like the creeping buttercup, I'm just living with, for now at least.
I haven't used bucket-loads of chemicals, but having taken the place on, I soon came to the conclusion that I'd not live long enough to sort out the problems without some chemical assistance, targeted rather than random broadsides.
There are people at both extremes of the spectrum when it comes to using weedkillers. I sit in the middle, but at least I don't kid myself that whether some lone individual uses salt, vinegar, or glyphosate on some weeds in their back garden is going to make much difference in the general scheme of things, compared with the industrial level of spraying and chemical use I see going on in the fields around me.0 -
My point is that glysophate is not safe. Vinegar or salt is safe to spread around the patio when you have kids or pets around. Don't forget your gas mask, protective goggles, gloves and hazmat suit when your using that stuff.0

Salt is toxic to cats and dogs. Do a bit more research.0

More of an Napalm guy myself, Love the smell of it first thing in the morning.
Sure you set fire to the odd passerby, but they scream and die fairly quickly, as for cats and dogs they don,t really count.
Sure kills them weeds tho.
Anyone got a Huey for sale, might try and up scale this.0 -

The very well-known expert Mr Bob Flowerdew says that boiling water is the best and safest bet for self/wildlife... I tend to agree with experts, because they know better.0

Why not buy a weed wand and burn the weeds. Its great fun! Unfortunately it doesn't kill the roots but far better than poluting your soil with salt.0

You may sell those in your garden centre, and I can confirm, they're great......
....for lighting barbecues and bonfires! Use mine regularly for those jobs.:D
For the small garden they have a place, and it's certainly good to see the seeds of willowherb and bittercress being frazzled, but on the scale at which I and many others garden, they are not appropriate. We should also remember that they aren't carbon neutral.0 -
Puddy was it effective?
My neighbour is having problem with weeds in a unflowered rock garden and doesn't care for plants and is looking for an effective weedkiller. She has got a dog and Children though. I'm thought of using white vinegar, does the salt and dishwater make it more effective, I thought that soap would neutralize it.
Where could I buy cheap white vinegar, can you do any better than this? about £15 including postage for 10 litres.
