Its very interesting actually, there seems to be no data anywhere.
Maybe Im looking in the rwrong places?
But there seems to be a relaionship between tenants behind with the rents and numbers of people looking for help at food banks, and the foodban numbers are sky high..........
You are looking in the wrong places.
Try searching for 'Tenant Arrears Tracker', produced by LSL Property Services.
Stepchange (previously the Consumer Credit Counselling Service) are quite happy to quote their figures as in the "number of tenants with severe rent arrears has risen by 4000 in the first three months of 2013".

On the other hand, they don't seem to be that interested in giving the same prominence to more recent (November 2014) results, as in;

Landlord possession
The number of landlord possession claims in County Courts fell from 194,645 in 2002 to 134,961 in 2010, but has since increased by 26% to 170,451 in 2013. This increase has been in stark contrast to the 29% decline in the number of mortgage possession claims over the same period. The third quarter of 2014 recorded 40,859 claims, 3,700 (8%) less claims issued than the same quarter in 2013. This is the second consecutive quarterly decline when compared to the same period the previous year, since 2010. For landlord repossessions by county court bailiffs, there were 11,100 in July to September 2014. This is the highest quarterly figure in our series, which covers the period from 2000.
The estimated proportion of claims which have progressed to an order, warrant or repossession by county court bailiffs has also been increasing slightly since 2010. Whereas the estimated percentage of claims leading to an order, warrant or repossession in 2010 stood at around 68%, 36% and 21% respectively, the corresponding Q3 2014 figures are 72%, 39% and 21%0
