Wedding Dress Fittings

Oh Hadley, sending you massive hugs.
You have done fantastically well to have lost over 1.5 stones :j. Look on the positives- it will be good for you to see how the dress looks now that you have lost so much weight. It will also give you the chance to chat to the seamstress about how much more weight you are able to lose without wrecking the dress. If you say you want to leave the alterations as late as possible then you will have a clearer idea of how much more weight you are able to lose. If you did get down to 8 stone 5, I'm guessing that would be about a size 8? If so, could the dress even be taken in that much?
Also, I think you need to give yourself a break. We have 12 weeks left, is it really realistic to lose another 2 stone during that time? How long has it taken you to lose 1.5 stones? And remember that weight loss tends to slow down as you get closer to your target. If you are trying to set yourself an impossible target then it's just going to make you feel more frustrated and down that you can't reach it. Your oh loves you just the way you are, please don't beat yourself up over this. Given that there is still 12 weeks left, I can't imagine they will say you have to stop losing weight right now, but they may give you a deadline- either x weeks or x pounds. You could always find another seamstress to get a second opinion if you aren't happy with what they say.
You should be so proud of what you have already achieved. Chin up my lovely
Oh dear - my worst fears have been confirmed and my 1st fitting is next Thursday  Now feel physically sick.
My dress is a size 14 and fitted at the time I bought it, sometime last year. At that point I weighed 12st 6. I now weigh 10st 12 (so have lost just over 1.5 stone) . Whilst its a loss I really wanted to get to about 8.5 stone. So am nowhere near that. Very worried that I will have to stay at the weight I am now.
I know I'll be able to shift alot more between now and the wedding. But not sure if I'll be allowed now. I don't want to look like this on my wedding day.

Hadley - no way will they tell you not to lose any more weight after this first fitting.
My first fitting is next Sat - 5 WEEKS before my wedding. It will be taken up but probably not taken in until closer to the time. I told the DM that I intend to continue losing weight right up until the day. Fortunately, my dress is not strapless, so if I lose an extra 1-2lb after the final fitting it will still look ok. I think that strapless dresses have to fit EXACTLY on the bust or they gape and fall down. Is yours strapless?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for all your replies.
Just a quick response as should be working (will respond more fully later if thats ok).
Mine is a strapless lace up dress and I'm only 5ft tall... so to me 10st 12 is way too much.

I don't think 10st 12 is far too much, think we were more worried that 8st 5 might be too little! But if you are only 5ft that's ok. I'm 5ft 5, n don't really want to get to 8 1/2 st. Would rather have some muscle.

The fact that it is lace up should mean you are still able to loose after your last fitting, as long as its not LoaDS!
I have buttons on my dress, which means once I have had the final fitting that is it! It has to fit exactly. :T0 -

A lace-up back is very flexible, you will be fine!
Just tell them that you want to keep losing weight for as long as possible. My dress has buttons too, so no room for manouevre, but I don't care if it's a little loose
