Flight refund

Hello. Was looking for help and advice. I have a ticket booked for Australia but due to unseen circumstances(Me and my partner split) i am no longer going. The flight centre will not refund the ticket. I dont have insurance yet. But insurance will only give me a refund from a)death b)the person i was flying with dies c)funeral. The flight is end of july

Is there any other options i can look at? Have i just lost all that money?

  • You should be able to reclaim the taxes, but these may be subject to an admin fee.

Travel then go you separate ways on arrival. OZ has plenty of good looking people, it's a bit like getting sun oil when you arrive at your destination instead of taking it with you.

You can always select seats away from each other.

Do you have a fairly common name? Could there be someone with the same name who you could sell the ticket to?

    Dangerous advice...

The person's full name (as shown in their passport) would have to be an exact match for the name you used for the booking. Since this would be fraudulent, you could not use any legitimate means to advertise, and of course if the airline found out the ticket would not be valid.

I agree with Bob, go and have a fantastic holiday, it would be silly to lose the money for the ticket. Make sure you get insurance as well.......

I expect the OP's ex would not be too happy to be likened to a bottle of greasy sun oil - but analogy aside, your suggestion makes complete sense.

It would be a shame to lose out (on the trip and pocket) and I'm sure you will be able to select seats away from each other if no reconciliation is possible.

Go for it OP - you may regret it in months to come if you don't.

My comment had question marks in it to prompt further thoughts by the OP and others.
