"Pipex Communications, the UK's fifth largest internet access provider, has put itself up for sale, in a move that could accelerate the wave of consolidation sweeping through the UK broadband sector.
Confirming a weekend press report, the company this morning said it had appointed investment bank UBS to explore a number of options, including a possible sale of the company.
'This process is at a very early stage and there can be no certainty that a transaction will result,' said the company in a statement."
