OS Daily Wednesday 30th May

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 30th May 2012 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all up with the sunrise again. Its so nice to see it first thing in the morning. We have such long cold dark winters that I enjoy the bright morning whilst i can.
School run this morning then off to Sittingbourne to drop my car into the garage for its annual service. My sis-in-law Jan in faversham is picking me up from there and I'll probably get her to take me to macknades farm shop as I want to see how much the cajun spices will cost or if I have enough spices indoors to mix up my own mixture ,then we'll go to her house for lunch and then she'll drop me back to pick my car up.I haven't seen her for about 2 months so we will probably have a good natter at the same time.'Home to pick upmy grandsons from school this afternoon and we're half way through the week already. No food shopping to buy thank goodness I am hoping to put a nice wodge of spare cash into the holiday fund on Friday thats left over from my food purse this week..Hope everyone has a good day
Take care all

Lovely sunny start here, just about to put the washing on the line. Am off out this morning with DS to the dentist. This afternoon think will have a potter around the house. Have absolutely no ironing to do :j until the washing is dry later.

Not sure what to have for dinner tonight. Will have a delve in the freezers.

    Morning :hello:

Hester :( I don't know what to say........... Wish you lived nearby, you could help yourself to veggies from my garden and eggs from the chicken shed.

Not very exciting here today, just the usual cleaning out the chickens, watering the garden etc.

I'm on a mission to use as little elec as possible. So yesterday I swept all the carpets instead of hoovering and did a load of handwashing. I've instructed everyone to have shorter showers (electric shower). I can't really cut down on gas, we have a combi boiler so it only heats the water as I'm using it. I've turned the temp down a bit though.

I'm going to be brave and clean out the shed. I know what'll happen - I think it's not a huge space so won't take long, but there's no room to move around so I empty most of it out then I realise it's like a tardis and there's NO WAY I'll fit all that stuff back in, never mind tidily. Then I'll have to force myself to do it and will spend the rest of the day in a bad mood :D

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dull and overcast here this morning, temperature dropped dramatically too. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg/salad - followed by ice creams. I remembered to get the chicken out of the freezer last night - tonight's dinner is chicken casserole, mash and veg. I have Parents evening for DS1 - so needed something I could just put in the oven and leave to cook whilst we're out. Didn't have NSD yesterday as needed to buy a sympathy card for DH's aunt, his uncle has passed away, but he'd had a good long life, he was in his 90's. Whilst I was in the SM checked out their YS and actually managed to get some bargains, all bread/rolls etc, but all at cheap prices, 4 x teacakes 10p, 6 x large pitta breads 16p, seed sensations large loaf 26p, and 2 x soft rolls 19p each - have never been there at the right time before - so really pleased with my purchases some of which are in the freezer. Did check the other YS bargains but there wasn't any real bargains - most items had just been reduced by 10-30p - that's not enough of a reduction in my opinion when it's being sold on it's sell/use by date so it can stay on the shelf!!

Only working today until lunchtime, then on days off with the added bonus of a 2 day bank holiday, so when I go back next week on Weds only half a day to do then off until the following Monday! We're going away Friday night until Tuesday, working Weds then taking caravan to London from Thursday until Sunday - we've kept telling the boys we would take them to London and never have so we booked this several months ago and I'm really looking forward to it - we're just going to do all the touristy stuff, sights etc. Have used my MrT clubcard vouchers to buy vouchers for the original sightseeing tour bus - thought that would be a good way for them to see the sights as you can hop on hop off and ticket is valid for 24 hours - not cheap though. They want to go to HMS Belfast so that will be on the agenda too, want to show them along the South Bank/Embankment too, will visit Museums etc as they are free too.

I'm going to work a bit early this morning as I'm opening with another colleague - hope she's there on time as it's a rush to get everything ready before we open if she's late as we can't enter the building alone.

Remember the sunscreen if you're going to be out in the sun x

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x
