Going to view this shortly and I wondered if the garden feature was likely to pose any problems

Look at picture 16, you could get together with the neighbours on either side and make a Chippenham-based version of Total Wipeout0

I couldnt imagine that posing any problems...surely the playhouse won't have access to the shelter...and if so, wow what a cool den for the kids!0

Mahahaha! Lovely house though!0 -
Shouldn't be a problem - only if you want to remove it at some point.
My Uncle had a reinforced concrete air raid shelter in his garden (shared with neighbour) which they decided to remove - it was more than a foot thick with reinforcing bars going through it. It took many days to knock down with jack hammers - and there were many skips full of rubble to get rid of.0 -
Id pay extra for it! The house itself is lovely and the feature of the playhouse over the top of the shelter is brilliant, Id only hope there was a trap door so the kids could get into it from above! Thinking back to my childhood I can only see it as being FUN!0

if you could tank the shelter so it doesn't let in water (they all did) then you'd be able to convert that playhouse into a two-storey nanny/granny annexe.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

We have an old air raid shelter in our garden. It's got a planted area on top. The neighbour uses their's as a patio.
I think it's a really interesting bit of history. We live near what was once a US air base. Presumably the builders made good money fitting shelters after Belfast was bombed.
It could be your own link to a past that is hard to imagine.Stercus accidit0 -
Don't get rid of it. I'd have it as my own personal cave!I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -
Check the ambient temp in the shelter - would it have a use as a wine cellar?0
