These type of scams can contain viruses so if youve clicked on the link you really need to do a virus scan. If you dont have the software you can do a free scan here

I received the same mail. Reported it to Barclays and did a trace on the IP address, routed it to a company called INTOMI.com (A Yahoo marke research company) I reported it to Yahoo and they have disabled the account now!
I knew it was a scam simply because I don't have a Barclays account!shabani wrote:Recieved this e-mail and i am not sure if this is a scam. The strange thing is that e mail address is not even correct althouh mine is similar. To me it seems a scam. Any one recieved this e mail

The mail I got was identical in wording but the IP address was llinked to Inktomi.com, a Yahoo marketing site (legitimate)
I reported it to Yahoo and Barclays. Yahoo had received other reports and have disabled the Yahoo account. Barclays haven't had the decency to even send me an automated reply!
One thing I found very strange though was that when I copied and pasted the mail, the characters in the email content changed and there was a hidden text box just before the link. Almost like it had been encrypted.Rex_Mundi wrote:Did you forward the email to barclays security before you deleted it? It won't be too hard for them to find out who this is.
I did a quick check on the IP address of the site before you deleted it. It certainly wasn't barclays. The site was registered to a company in London. This is a classic phishing email.
