barclays e mail scam

Recieved this e-mail and i am not sure if this is a scam. The strange thing is that e mail address is not even correct althouh mine is similar.To me it seems a scam. Any one recieved this e mail

It looks like a scam to me without a doubt. Look at the e-mail message header. The e-mail was originally sent from a yahoo account, which is a dead giveaway.
I've just gone to the real, official Barclays homepage. They have this message at the bottom of their homepage:
"Some customers have been receiving an email claiming to be from Barclays advising them to follow a link to what appear to be a Barclays web site, where they are prompted to enter their personal Online Banking details. Barclays is in no way involved with this email and the web site does not belong to us. Barclays does not send emails to customers requesting security or any other confidential information. Please do not reply to any such emails or follow any links to web sites claiming to be Barclays Online Banking.
If you think you've received a fraudulent email that looks like it's from Barclays, forward the entire email including the header and footer to internetsecurity@barclays.co.uk and then delete it from your email account."
I would follow Barclays' advice and forward the e-mail to the e-mail address they've specified above. Never respond to or click on any follow through links you may have received in an e-mail.
Also, as a further precaution, do not save online banking website addresses in your favorites or bookmarks folder. Scamsters can re-route addresses in your saved list so that it connects you to their fraudulent website. When logging into online banking, ensure that the first part of the web address reads: 'https:". This tells you you are logging into a secure server. Finally, in the bottom right of your screen you should see a small icon resembling a padlock when logging into online banking. If you do not see either of the above, then close the browser window, open a new window and type in your bank's web address (URL) again.Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -

I am not 100% certain, but i would be 99.9% sure this is a scam email. If Barclays are so concerned about your internet banking they would probably just block or cancel your membership number and request you contact them either in branch or by phone.
I use Barclays internet banking quite a bit, i havent seen this email yet. If you recall Barclays only ask you to enter two RANDOM letters of your password and not the entire word.
For further verification go to the Barclays webiste and log on, ensure the url starts https// whch means you have logged onto a secure server.
Piece of advice, if you are unsure if the email is genuine or not NEVER EVER FOLLOW A LINK IN A EMAIL!!!!!
It will take you that few extra seconds but enter the address in the navigation bar yourself and you can be sure you are going to a bonified site. These people are so clever and the sites you are directed to are so good. The only way you would notice is if you checked the URL in the couple of seconds they pop up for.
To be on the safe side i would contact Barclays, make them aware of the email and change some of your details.

Phoned barclays and they confirmed what i thought. Advised to delete e mail. I can see how someone can fall for this scam if you do not look properly at it. Just have to be vigilant always.0

Did you forward the email to barclays security before you deleted it? It won't be too hard for them to find out who this is.
I did a quick check on the IP address of the site before you deleted it. It certainly wasn't barclays. The site was registered to a company in London. This is a classic phishing email.

I keep getting loads of scam ones from a few banks in america. Ive never held an american bank account so it always makes me chuckle a bit when i get them. Funny thing is i bank with barclays and have never ever had a scam one from them only every other bank that i dont bank with0

i got this on too i clicked on the link just to see what it would say as i knew it was fake from the yahoo email address it had come from. nothing came up so i just deleted the email, didnt think of reporting it doh!Other women want a boob job.
