The reasoning behind it is so you cam test yourself to ensure you are not over the limit, for anyone who has travelled in France you will have seen French families stop at tge side of the road for lunch which often includes wine... And they have lower limits than us!

jackomdj this is NOT your reasoning I understand that.

Basically if you feel you need to test yourself you should not be driving.
  • be careful if traveling down sat nav doesnt try to take you over the pont normandie ner honfluer that route will cost afortune in tolls.

caen ring road can be a bit confusing on some junctions as can nante. but the run from calais to rouen is as other say around 7€.

re map plannng can you not break it down into sections if you cannot do way points.

Surely it's false economy to try to avoid the toll roads, we drive down to Med coast regularly, this August we are driving to near Benidorm. Tolls will be about £120 return, but my car will sit happily at about 90mph & return about 35mpg, with virtually no tyre, brake or clutch wear, and no stress, and only about 15 hours driving. I'm sure that if we avoided tolls it would cost more in wear & tear, definitely in petrol & meal stops, than we would save in tolls.
