Better storage heaters or installing gas central heating questions.

We currently have electric storage heaters and hate them. On the plus side the 2 we have are enough to heat the house when both working and it does work out quite cheap BUT there is no heat in the evenings, boiling in the mornings and no real control. My question is how much it would realistically cost us to install…

You don't have to install full central heating to start using gas. There are high efficiency gas fires that work with chimneys or direct vent through walls, as well as gas wall heaters (some are automatic with a thermostat) that just need to be sited against a suitable outside wall to vent.
