I've long thought it would be an interesting premise for a distopian sci-fi book to have a bunch of adults that just didn't die, on the grounds that they could harvest organs etc, however people continued to have children and so forth. The result would be a very large scale discontent over the ownership of houses etc. I think I've been hanging out on here for too long. Being a baby-boomer I can hardly blame myself.
You'd need a rule that only the "end of the line" people could opt for immortality, so not you, but your kids. Then it's a choice: kids or immortality.

Where'd you do that then? (Maybe I should add: and how?)

    Go here http://www.gad.gov.uk/services/Other%20Services/Compensation_for_injury_and_death.html

Download Ogden Tables 6th (2007) and 7th (2011) editions. Table 1, 0% column gives future life expectancy figures.

By the way, when I said track an individual from 50 to 54, I did not mean that literally.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

There was a book, Michael Coney's "Friends Come In Boxes" which covers this with a bit of a twist.

It's why Darwin didn't expect to find immortal organisms (well sexually reproducing ones) because you need death to clear the arena of experienced competition for the varied offspring you need to survive in a changing environment. All those life-extension diets we discussed a while ago would have low libido and infertility as a side-effect.

By-the way, hi from another baby boomer.

Well you need to watch what you say round these parts... I'm not the only speshul one who literally ... takes things literally.

So, any one else agree the star of the millibars speech was the red and cream top just to the left?

Parents and I are disagreeing though, whether it's owls or cats. It's either a kitty on each titty or (this is dreadful, forgive me,). Tit two.

Years ago, i remember looking at death rates and there was a drop around 2010-2020 which was explained by the people who would have been dying at that time hadn't been born due to the low birth rates during WW2!

I could do with some designers out here. We have an open plan kitchen/ living space. The kitchen is in one corner and has totally boring matt white flat cupboard doors. Handles are silver which matches the window frames and the venetian blinds (which are inside the double glazing so can't be changed) and the appliances. Worktop is a sandy colour granite that matches the sandy marble floor. The walls are white, so it really is a blank canvas.

Yesterday we went looking for lounge furniture. went to a furniture store mall. Problem was (a) too much choice (b) everything we liked is similar to what we have at home. Modern, quite but not extreme minimilism. All very neutral colours.

Need help bringing some colour into the place.

I used to have betnovate years ago until it started thinning my skin...so I started putting Tea Tree oil in my bath, sorted it out much quicker.

    Firefox user here......

It's James' birthday today, where did the last 19 years go?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
