Well it has the advantage that if you are an internet imposter and are really a 6ft heavy weight axe murderer I should be able to lose you in the store. Or in the queue for the meatballs.
It is somethig else. You go in on the top floor and have to go down through all floors to get out. Carefully not being attracted to brightly coloured stuff, glasses and functional storage.
I am thinking New Forest...tea rooms....pub.
That involves going round, but also doubling back, cutting through.... then at the end I decide what I want and try to go back to find it....
I also spend a long time in the functional storage .... and shiny stuff areas.0 -
If only I thought you were joking!!
Fridge with door open warms the room up v quickly. The inside of the fridge is at room temperature, so the thermostat makes the fridge motor run continuously, trying to cool down the inside. It extracts heat from the inside all right, but kicks it straight out the back where the cooling fins are... and it kicks out all the energy it's taken from the mains to run its motor, too, which is why the place warms up so quickly.
It would be better if you arranged the fridge in a hole in the wall (well insulated round the edges, of course), so that inside of the fridge is outside the house (where the cooling effect won't make much difference to anything) and the cooling fins are inside the house kicking out heat. This way you get electric heating that provides more heat energy in the house than it has used electrical energy from the mains (providing you can turn the thermostat down below the temperature of outside). That (without the fridge door and little light and shelves etc) is bascially what an air source heat pump is.I grew up in a 3 quilt ice on the inside of the windows house and I now make sure everything is double glazed, insulated and warm day and night but the two of my siblings I know about (how warm they have their houses) have cold houses
I too am the only one in my family who has rebelled against the freezing home of our childhood!PasturesNew wrote: »I've rarely been... it's still a novelty. I went in about 1990 and bought 2 sofas, a load of kitchen basics and 3 sets of drawers.... and it wasn't until 2007 that I went again - I bought a couple of great storage boxes, two 19p plates and my laptop table.
So you go every 17 years. That means you're not due to go again until 2024.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
They have nothing like that round here. Curries are tasty enouigh in the evening but for lunch they taste even better, one of the few foods that reheats better than first served.
There's even a Starbucks! And .... I always think of LIR when I see the sign for some reason (not based on anything at all) ... it's a Vintage Tea Boutique. Although thinking of LIR could be because it's directly opposite the exceedingly posh and expensive, top of the range, bathroom shop (things and baths the like I've never seen before!). There are dress shops here where the dresses and shoes in the window are £200 apiece. Yet I never see anybody in any of these businesses! Ever!

When I first came to London me and my mates used to go to a restaurant in Barnes that did a sunday buffet all-you-can-eat. Used to try to eat the place out of house and home. One sunday a pair of lads arrived late lunchtime, obviously regulars and the staff were happy to see them but informed them they'd be closing soon but they'd give them a takeaway.
The guys looked disappointed and said they wouldn't be able to back for second helpings but the waiter said they woudln't need to. They bought some beers, paid for the "buffet" and waited till closing time and the staff collected all the curries and starters and filled two enormous takeway bags with foil trays of all the food left over, all for just a few quid.

I can put it in the sink (bless the en-suite)..... and I've got a Tesco bag... but no ice cubes.
If it were my house/freezer etc, then I could have wet a small towel and put that in the freezer ... and made up some ice cubes... then gone to the freezer every couple of hours. When it's not your place, you don't want to be too bizarre.0 -
