    Erik Idle.

    Brilliantly done.

Even more embarrassing than the Spice Girls - watching Cammy and Boris strut their stuff in the audience.

I tried to quote both these earlier today in a post and they disappeared, now here they are in this post!

An interesting point raised in the papers.
Has the nation (or even the world) gained weight during the Olympics?
Due to the mass conversion of 10s of millions of people into couch potatoes?:D

If i were healthy i would certainly like the idea of modern pentathalon. I wasintrigued by it yesterday and loved the friendliness the women showed towards each other at the end. It looked fun, though, i have to admit i was astounded at the level, which seemed somewhat...acheivable.

I quite enjoyed watching the athletics and the gymnastics. I am in awe of such advanced limits people take their bodies to, but both seem less.....approachable for the average person, which is why i think for many they are just great spectator sports every few years. Although i love swimming, watching it is teminally boring imo, i just am not that into watching sports thoguh, unlike many np. I miss doing things like that but watching 'em, nah.

As they had Eric Idle doing the Brian thing, it probably killed-off the possibility of including one of my favourite bands, the Rutles.

Now that would have puzzled a few people and made Russell Brand superfluous! :D

Even though it has a fabric covered headboard?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Yes, even though. Don't get me wrong, aesthitically it would not have been my choice, but, oh, its so comfortable compared to what we have been sleeping on:j:j:j:j

I saw Neil Innes a couple of months ago, he was pretty good, but Eric Idle is fantastic, 'Always look on the brightside' :)
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

i bet they wheel out mccartney again.

I was saying the same thing to Mrs. Wheezy after every act...."and now we will have Paul Mccartney, Elton John, Tom Jones or Cliff Richard!" Luckily none of them turned up yesterday. :)

I've been forced to raise my impression of London. I was worried they couldn't be trusted to run a bath, let alone a global sport festival. I envisioned a million ways it could have gone wrong and was watching between my fingers. Needn't have worried - it's been a class act!:)

I so agree with you. I was quite sceptical also, especially after the Bejing closing ceremony where London presented itself with leona lewis on a pole and beckham kicking a ball out of a doubledecker.

But it turned out just wonderful.
I even got a bit sad when the flame went out, silly me. :o

Neil always did parody, which is frowned upon a bit, but he had such a range of characters.

"All You Need Is Cash,"directed by Idle, is such a lovingly made film that I can still watch it at any time and find something new. Much funnier than "This is Spinal Tap" IMO.

Still got my Rutles album from 1978.

My favourite was Cheese and Onions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGd6dR3ypBk

Always wondered how they got away with the copyright. Their songs and album cover were pure rip offs from the Beatles, although I think George at least was in on it all.
