Trying alphabetical but thatdoesn't work either. Rick steines food heros and his fish cookery book are totally different. Would i look in the same place for those two things? I do not think so.:(

I'm happy enough adding recipes, with photos, into Evernote.... it's fully searchable.

The other day I had to do a "screenie" to get a recipe, dropped that into paint and cropped it, pasted the image in Evernote ... and accepted that those weren't searchable... however, when I used the search function it DOES search/find words in jpg files!

    It's genius.

I have 553 recipes in there now, most with photos. And I've used 40 tags to group them.

    Not OCD at all.....

How could anybody NOT add this to their collection: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/cheesecake_brownies_01372

awww.... maybe do them by "types of food", and Food Heros goes with "Misc books about food/chefs/restaurants"

I guessed that :o I just liked the thought of foxed shelves. My phone tries to correct something (can't remember what) to k.d.lang. No idea why that is in its dictionary. Can't think that I've ever knowingly typed it. I certainly have to look out for it now though!

I'm sure the books will get sorted. You just need to start. I'm not sure Dewey is the best system - I would think that it should be something that makes sense to you, but that's just how I would do it. If you're struggling to think of a way yourself then some pre-arranged system would be a great way to start I would think, then you can always alter if you wish.

    Dewey says:

    641 Food & drink
    • 641.1 Applied nutrition
    • 641.2 Beverages (Drinks)
    • 641.3 Food
    • 641.4 Food preservation and storage
    • 641.5 Cooking, recipes
    • 641.6 Cooking specific materials
    • 641.7 Specific cooking proceses and techniques
    • 641.8 Cooking specific kinds of composite dishes
Which, imho, is mostly irrelevant since most of your books will fall into one group....

What I don't understand is why kd lang? I haven't seen any other entertainers in there! I think its when I type something like 'I'd'. The only thing I can think is that it was some kind of dare/ in-joke.

If I was organising it, I would probably go in terms of themes eg. Italian, starters, misc (such as food heroes, though that could poss go in British too). If I was really trying to avoid doing other things (not saying you are, but I am), I might also create some kind of spreadsheet so I could find them. At the moment though, most of my books are in a state of disarry/ in London Borough of Hillingdon recycling bags so I'm not really the best person to give advice!

I tend to put the ones I don't mind people seeing I own in prominent places and try and put the more embarrassing ones on low shelves out of the way....

Does anyone else always find bookshelves bow?
    I think....

Ugh, just went to get my phone from upstairs where its been on charge as I needed to make what is probably going to be a difficult phonecall. Have missed a call from the person in question, and they are now not answering. Rats.
