Blimey. It sounds like the Greek debt will be repaid before yours:(. So sorry to hear this lir and fir.

Its ok really. The reason we are doing it is primarily a matter of principle and a horribly middle class attitude of responsibility: if people like us don't do it it becomes easier to rip off people who cannot or are too intimidated to do it.

I have no brother. Rottweiler sibling is a girl?

The issue is: they want formal proof/hard evidence/original documentation from an official body, tying me to the new address.... and as that can only exist 300-400 miles away, and some isn't there yet, it's still a matter of getting it from there to here... and as here I don't have an address, it has to be sent to another address here and I'll have to collect it from there.

Surely, it can be posted to the bank? I'd google money laundering and what info should be provided if you are just moving in. I see this came up before. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2808768

    And, http://www.kgbanswers.co.uk/if-im-a-traveller-and-have-no-fixed-abode-can-i-open-a-bank-account-and-who-with/2546301

Is the issue that you have the completion monies to bank, and you need an account in your mother's name as attorney? Surely, her address is the more relevant one?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Chin up, PN! Sounds like a real PITA you're dealing with there!
It's the latest Takeaway Secret book. Not the first one, there's a new one.

Makes note to look that up! How's it different ?:)

Well ... I've not seen the first one... but I figure the 2nd one must have "more recipes" - so I figured I'd get my hands on it, flick through, see if 2-3 caught my eye and snap them......

It could have, if we'd known, but by then it'd already been posted to my other sibling's address - I'd specifically said I wouldn't need that/nobody'd accept it. Wanting it was new information today.... too late.

    Is the issue ...
Yes, but that's the easy one. It's the other one for trustees that's causing the issue. And the fact my address is required for both.

Let me run this past you - just as a suggestion:

Your mother already has a bank account in her name, I assume. And you have a power of attorney. What happens if you pay the money into that account, and then ask the bank to put it on money market deposit? Have you tried that, and what hurdles are they attempting to put in your way? Which bank is it, by the way?

Edit: Trustees - so you are still administering your late father's estate? Do you not have a bank account set up for that already?

I assume that you already have an account in your own name? If so, your own bank will not need to go through any of the money laundering nonsense to set up further accounts in your name, whether as a trustee or not.

Perhaps if you gave more info, the NP could help you more. Or don't you want help, just sympathy?

All/any bank accounts in her name are already up to the limit for 'protection'. With all that's going on, I'd rather the cheque stayed in my pocket, not earning interest.... than look a complete fool if the worst happened.

I have absolutely no idea what "money market deposit" means as I have never heard the phrase before. Bank is a BS....

I have the first one, not sure where it is (most likely in one of the big piles of my belongings that I have failed to deal with). Will dig it out. Never know, our paths might cross...

That'd be brilliant ... and, as you say ... you never know.

    :)

I've got a bunch of the contents gathered from the previews on Amazon already and a few littered around t'Internet.... but there are still quite a few I am missing from the first one. I figure that the first book will be of more interest to me as it'll be more mainstream/available food.... and the 2nd book would start to go into more unusual/obscure or regional offerings, with less general interest.

The first book wasn't available from my library, so I never bothered to order it... I kind of always believed that one day, when I had a letterbox, I'd order one when it was as cheap as I could find one ... and when I had a kitchen I could cook in.
