Prescription collection service

Does anyone use a Prescription collection service, and can you tell me how it works.
My 5 year old has 8 items on prescription, which gets filled once a month, and I normally just take my repeat to the GP's and then take the prescription to Boots, but this is really time consuming now he is at school, I am at work and am starting University in October.
Sorry if this is a really obvious question

Our little boy has prescription milk every 4 weeks, and he's also meant to have prescription vitamins but we've got a backlog of those!
I have an arrangement with Lloyds pharmacy whereby I phone them every four weeks to ask them to go the GP Surgery and request the repeat prescription on our behalf; two days later they collect the prescription, fill it, and deliver the milk out to our home on their van.
It's only failed once in two years, and Lloyds customer services investigated and apologised for that.
Unfortunately my friendly local branch (who know littl'un and recognise us) is closing, so we have to move the 'script to another branch. I'm just hoping they will be as good.
eta. Forgot! Marley also has a regular prescription, which I don't even remind Lloyds about! They just automatically request that one, and deliver it out to us (it's small enough to go through the letterbox). I think we only have the phone conversation to initiate the prescription for the milk because there are times when we don't need it due to having built a surplus.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

My designated pharmacy picks up my repeat prescription from the GP surgery fills the prescription which I pick up once every 3mths , I don't do anything, the prescription is automatically repeated. I get called in every now and the for a med check (I think its meant to happen every year). Not sure if it works like that everywhere though, but it sure is handy..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Brilliant.
Our local ASDA picks up from our GP's, so does that mean I could just pick up the prescriptions when I go shopping? Who do I need to approach first? ASDA or the surgery?SPC #1813

The Chemist/Asda should have a form you can complete. I also checked with the Doctor to make sure0

For my mum, she calls up the surgery to tell them what she needs, it gets picked up by the pharmacy and delivered to her door.
If it's a regular 4 weekly thing, they can arrange it all for you4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
My chemist picks up my repeat prescription each month, then has everything ready in a box for hubby to pick up. We don't need to ring the surgery, the Chemist deals with it all.
We don't get it delivered to our door because the chemist is literally a few yards from my front door and my husband has to sign for some of the meds anyway, so the chemist just boxes everything each month for collection.

Will pop into ASDA after work and set it up. I dont mind picking them up as I go in every week, but the convenience will be brilliant.SPC #1813

Also worth checking if you can order repeat prescriptions online. This is how I do it, you specify what you want and which pharmacy the script is to go to. A day or two later the script finds it's way to your chosen pharmacy and you go to collect it.
Most GPs refuse to take prescriptions over the phone, but it might we worth asking them to start taking them by email if they don't have an online service already.0 -
My Surgery does this on line & you can even choose which pharmacy to collect from. Just needs a couple of working days notice to be ready.Truth always poses doubts & questions.
