    Hi everyone

Just want to add my story to this post

My wife bought an iphone 3gs from Tesco a couple of years ago and wanted to leave them and go to vodafone on a sim only deal. Since being with Vodafone the signal has been awful. Rang their cs and the britisg guy was really helpful and went through changing a few settings for the web. But then the signal just drops out in all kinds of places. So rang them again and got a totally useless person abroad their english not good didnt listen to me etc etc . He sent me a couple of texts to change some settings and suggested I try
Visiting a vodafone store to change the sim card. Did this today and the attitude of the person in the store was terrible. Along the lines of. 'Well it cant be our signal. We're brilliant etc etc. After getting home the signal is still the same yet it worked no problem on tesco mobile. Thankfully only have a 90 day contract so will be ditching them and going elsewhere.

I had a iphone 4s from vodafone in october last year on a 2 yer contract and have had problems with them ever since.

Ill have a signal one minute and then it will disappear the next and the only way to regain it is to turn my phone off and on again. It happenes whereever i go, not just at home! I have tried my sim card in another phone and it is doing exactly the same thing therefore proving its not the phone. Vopdafone wanted to send my phone for repair however that is too much of an inconvenience so i have finally managed to get them to give me a replacement phone and replacement sim card as they are adament it is the phone . If the same thing is still happening after i have had the new phone then i wonder what they are going to do next.... as ill want to cancel my contract with no penalties on the gruonds of having no service! Dont think ill be staying with them if it doesnt work!

Did you specify at the time you took it out it must work at a set location (ie your home)?

If you did you may have a case, if you didn't ask then you have no case. The nature of radio networks means you can't get a signal everywhere, and no network guarantees a signal in all place, and certainly not inside a building.

As you suggest it sounds like a fault on either sim card or your network account, and should be fixed bit it's not grounds to leave without any penalty.
  • My lovely Dad got a new contract with Vodafone one month ago today. His phone was faulty within a couple of weeks. He is profoundly deaf and had to queue in the shop for most of yesterday (I'm not joking - he has a heart condition and missed lunch and everything!) after the phone going for the third time in less than 28 days. He has had his brand new phone taken off him and replaced with a reconditioned phone. It doesn't have the software on it that the new one did. What I'd like to know - the shop tells us that the contract monthly payment is not just for calls etc, it is for payment of the phone. If this is the case, my dad now has to pay for two years for a second hand phone ... Mum has had a stroke this year and they need to be in contact by text (obviously as they are both deaf). My Dad said he didn't think it was fair or safe for them to have a second hand phone and asked if he could maybe swap for the more reliable iPhone (an increased contract price) but was told no as its over 7 days. I'm absolutely heartbroken for my parents :( We are all with Vodafone. I am due to upgrade but am so scared ill order a new phone and end up with a second hand one. Seems so wrong to me.

Check sales of goods act. you can normally reject a product within a short period of time. There is no actual time period for this but generally 3-4 weeks is seen as reasonable.

Refurb phones can often be as good as new. With regards to the software maybe it needs a software update.

As for Iphones, these can have as many problems as any other phone.

    Hi WendyRP,

I can appreciate that this has caused a great deal of frustration. I will be happy to look into this further for you.

It does state in our Terms and Conditions that we may offer a reconditioned handset as a replacement under the warranty. This should be in working condition and as a like for like replacement though.

If you could get in touch with me via the details here and include WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject and also include a link to your post and a contact number, I will get in touch to discuss this further.

    Many thanks,

    Heidi
