Fined due to not having permit on display

I recently moved to a block of apartments with the parking controlled by a 3rd party. I recieved my permit and whilst waiting for a permit holder to arrive off ebay, the permit fell off the dashboard when I shut the door, this happened twice. I recieved a fine on both occasions, I wrote the the company and explained I had a permit but it had fallen out of view, thinking that this would be acceptable and they would understand I had a permit and mistakes happen.
Oh how wrong was I, they have written back today saying appeal has been rejected as their contractual warning signs say a valid permit must be displayed at all times. I have 14 days to pay £65 then it goes to £90, if I dont pay that it goes to £140. Do I have any options?

Is the parking space included in your lease?

If so, give you managing agent/landlord a rocket about allowing these pirates to affect your "quiet enjoyment" and insist they do not operate on your space again.

Otherwise, this is not a fine and you need to have no further contact with the company - Who are they? You might well find their scam letters illustrated in the forum sticky, so you know what to expect next.
  • Cheers Guys it says Parking Charge Notice.
Yes the space is included in the lease of the apartment, I haven't paid any extra for it.
The company is Care Parking (oh the irony)

Central Ticketing under another guise I believe.

Post the exact wording of your lease. Depending on what it says, you may be in a position to reject the permit scheme and tell your management company and 'Care' Parking to do one.

Great - Just ignore them but put the fear of god into your landlord/managing agent and make it clear it will be an issue of harrassment if they ticket your car or hassle you again! :)

Sorry when I said I was paying extra I assumed it was part of my rent, clearly not. I think first call tomorrow is to my letting agent to see what the agreement is
